anyone know if a 996 wheel will work with 999 forks/axle/calipers?
Are you using the 999 rotors?
Don't have a rim or rotors yet, trying to figure out path of least resistance.
done a 996 swinger so 999 front would look odd
Aren't 996 fronts 6 bolt
and 999 are 5 i believe

Yes they have different mounting.
But the offset of the rotors is also different.
It won't be a simple conversion and it will be tough to decide without pieces to measure from.

I have a stock 996 wheel I can get some #'s from if it helps.

couldn't hurt, be much appreciated
since i've done all this on very little money i'd like to continue that trend, may just be getting a 999 front until i can mix match rims and buy oz's or something. I like the three spokers though.

996 used 5 spokes.
