Title: Are 620 and 1000 frames same?

I have made my self a huge problem with assuming that a M1000 03 would fit a M750 00 frame. It don't...

So I have to buy a "new" frame for my project. my question is: Are all air colled monster frames the same after the chance in 02 or 03? It seems allot easy er to find a 620 frame than a M1000...

'02 and later non-S*R frames are all basically the same AFAIK.
I think the coil mounting brackets are different on the M1k frames, but it's not a big deal, in the realm of what you're doing....

IMO an easier route would be to get an M900 engine.

It's difficult for me to explain cause off bad English skills and a totally different tax system in my country than you have. The case is that I have a compleat m1000, but no frame cause I had do deliver that to a brakeyard to be able to import is as parts and not as a bike. And I have a  m750 with all Norwegian papper works who have been in the sea, so only usable part is the frame(number)...

The plan now is to import a bare frame, and stamp in the frame number from my 750.

If I had a chance to do it over, I would have imported a carb 900, but as I said all the parts are in my garage allready :-[

Just to give you and idea off what kind off amounts we talking about. If I gonna import my 03 M1000 as a roadlegal bike today, it would be around 8000$ in tax and vat. Norway is the country in the world with highest import taxes on vehicle.

So, you have *all* of the parts from the M1000; wiring harness, ECU, airbox, fuel tank, front and rear suspension, etc?

I hope this isn't an annoying question, but why won't the M1000 fit in the earlier 750 frame?   Perhaps there is a way to make it fit with some fabrication?

I have a compleat bike in perfect condition I drive it over 1000km home, so yes I have it all. I bought the nicest bike I found, full service history, all 3 keys etc etc. Its the nicest thing I have own ;D ;D I understand its difficult to understand, but the frame(ore the front tube with the number) have to go back to the country I bought from.

The engine fit the 750 frame, but not the rear suspension etc etc. I don't want to make a bastard with steel swingarm etc etc. That is possible. I don't like the idea off using my suspension parts who have been in the sea either, even if it was for a very short time and it looks OK on the outside. But it not a disaster to buy a new frame, it is some on eBay. I only had to be sure to get a frame who will fit, done enough expensive mistakes now ;D Shipping cost is to times the cost off the frame tough :P

I have bought a frame from California for my old crashed 620 a few year ago.

what happened to the frame that went to the brakeyard?  was it destroyed?  if not, buy it back.

download the 2003 parts catalogues from ducati.com, then look up the part numbers.  that'll tell you.

yes, you dont have to give them the hole frame, as long as they get the head tube with number thats ok. If you deliver the hole frame they it cut in two... The point is that the bike then is taken out off all register etc, it dissapers.

My new plan after some phone calls tonight is to punch in the frame number from the M1000 to the old 750 frame and deliver that one to brakeyard [thumbsup]  They can't tell witch year the head tube is, they dont car either...[evil]
