That's right folks. It's official. Duck Stew....Monster Lover Numero Uno....has eschewed the Monster in favor of an 848. But not just any 848, an 848 Hayen!
See the NMMR Club section for more details and pictures.
Congrats, Stu!
Yes, I did & I even put a picture of the offending perpetrator as my avatar to fully reel in all the angst and ill will. I'm ashamed of myself to the point that I feel I must now report to the 'yet to be created' delete yourself entirely thread.
But at least I (unlike this threads founder) had the decency to trade in my Harley-Davidson for this new bike. The founder of this thread not only still owns such machinery, but proudly displays and even races it. If there is shame here good people, I am not the only one!
(LOL.... Yeah, I traded my Nightster for the 848NH with a lower payment and (somehow) lower insurance as well) [moto]
Stew = 848NH
Bacon Junkie = 999
SacDuc = 900SS
Polpetta = '71 CB350 (pending)
Its not just Stew. I think a lot of people who owned older monsters would never in their right minds buy the newer version. Those things are kinda ugly.
But Stew is still perfecting the 750CR. He hasn't abandoned the monster, its just that he can build a better one than Ducati can. [thumbsup]

Talk about the dark side...
nice Stu.
Sweet!! Congrats Stu!!
I'm still going to send you those clip ons, if I ever get off my ass and remember to that is. :-[
I ended up selling a M900 to help get an 848. I have to say I love it. I also have to say that I'm eying a Hypermotard or Streetfighter now because my riding style might be changing. Then again, it might not. [popcorn]
Talk about trading up. Wow! Nice looking ride. [bow_down]
Still can't wait to see the CR "finished." [drool]

20? Hell, I would have slapped a C-note down on that one. That's easy money! ;D
i'm in for 20 he will mod the bike.
define how much he will mod the bike.
as in if he is going to just put on rearsets, diff clip ons, slip ons and some carbon parts that is not the level of modding that stu is known for.
but then again if he does do a redesigned gas tank, tail section, custom fab subframe, etc, then we are talking the types of mods that stu is known for.
sorry but standard "modding" should not count when it comes to stu, the modding we expect from stu is a much higher level than simple bolt on aftermarket pieces.
but otherwise, enjoy the bike stu and make sure you take that bad boy to the track where it was made to be enjoyed. too bad you didn't have it back when you were in socal with the canyons.

SHOOSH YOU!! This is our game. ;D
Stu told me he was gonna keep it stock...
I suggested painting the rear shock spring red, and he reiterated... It's staying stock.
If he so much as puts high performance blinker fluid into the indicators, it's a mod, and his wallet will be thinner... [evil]

congrats stu [thumbsup] [moto]
Nice! [thumbsup]
as an 848 owner i predict he is going to change the rear suspension... stock is just way too stiff, even after adjusting it its just barley tolerable.

I will second this, especially when you take into account Stu's considerable... Girth... ;D
Congrats. I just snagged a 749R....not matter what I can't get away from a SBK...
Broke in the bike this morning on the Crest Rd. I was holding 20% more corner speed and was riding at a more subdued pace than I normally do.
I'm loving the chassis!!! There's so much more there....
As far as the mod-wager goes, I never officially agreed to anything, so there! Pbbbbttthh! [cheeky] :-*
BTW, I'm down to 1/4" strips on the front and to the edges on the rear....
Muwhahahahaha!!!!!!! [evil]
it really is a great bike, what are your thoughts on the suspension though?
It's a little stiff, but not bad... I've ridden the last 3 entry level SBK's and of them all this was the stiffest, but I haven't adjusted anything...
Talk to Rick (Mac) down in Desmotropic. He has the key to unlock that bike. [thumbsup]
Congrats! [evil]
Nice [thumbsup]

You do all realize that Stuart is just having fun with you all! He is actually doing undercover research (but in plain sight) and is dreaming of stuffing an 848 EVO engine and suspension into an older Monster frame with a retro style look that he is renowned for. Might as well start with a new bike and part out what is not needed -- it's cheaper to be honest!
Do some of you really and truly believe that Stuart would love the Superbike and turn his nose to the Monster personality within?
[laugh] [laugh] [laugh]
We all know Stu will never turn his back on the Monster.
He is, after all, still working on the most beautiful bike in the world:

Thanks. Stew has already got me set up on m900. That was just my way of saying that I am considerably slower than all of you.
Getting my 900SS (ie - a bike that actually fits me well enough I can move around on it) is my first real step toward getting serious about riding these things at speed. I'll get her fixed up and ridable then I'll be off to take some track classes.

Yeah...with 41mm flat slides, Termignoni spaghetti system, Ohlins rear, Showa front with RaceTech internals, an oil leak on the vertical head, and an extended warm-up time due to poor tuning in the midrange after the move to high altitude .... but beggers can't be choosers. ;D

I went from a 98 M900 to a 2003 999. My second thought after I barreled into a corner on my regular route was "This will be the bike that kills me!" Whee!! Everything happens easier and faster. You'll see, and you will be forever changed. [thumbsup]
Yup, my biggest adjustment has been having to look a LOT further through the corner than ever before and I really haven't wicked up the pace on the sucker yet!
As far as the Cptn America comment goes: I doubt I could pull that off, but damn is that funny!!!
