What do you think about what a friend made me recently

I used to use a white bedsheet, then a friend who used to make his living making boat covers whipped this thing up for me in about half an hour. It's thick polyfleece, really soft. Better than a white sheet and great for when the kids are banging their bikes around in the garage. Keeps the scratches away. Pretty cool for a freebie. I've looked for something like this but it seems nobody sells it, only the weatherproof kind that doesn't breathe or made out of thin nylon material. Anyone here have the Ducati cover, and how thick/breatheable is it?
I don't have the Ducati cover but I do cover my bike. I picked up a generic lightweight cotton cover. Cost was like $20. Five years later it's still doing a good job. Keeps the dust off everything.
in an old house of mine, the garage was less than stable as far as temperature and usually erred on the "cold as faaack" side...so at one point, I went to Overstock dot com and got a heated blanket and layed that over and around the bike with it on low along with the bike plugged in on the tender....
Not so pretty flowered sheet covers mine in my unheated garage.
That cover looks damn nice you got there, hell of a gift idea.
Not sure if it would be a big seller tho.
I don't cover mine when storing it indoors, but for me indoors means in the kitchen. I like to stare at it and think of spring. ;D
flannel sheet in my garage when i know it will not be attended to for a time. keeps a thick layer of dust off.
I cover mine once in awhile, i do like to stare at it once i'm out in the garage.
two of the classics stay covered. the frequent riders pretty much just hang
out in the garage.
3 bikes, one car cover
I use an old sheet set. I would love to buy a $200 cover but just can't justify it when these old sheets work great.
+1 on the cover, private garage but NYC is dusty as hell.
and not only do old sheets work great they last forever. [thumbsup] Nothing like the comfort of cotton.

I knew it reminded me of something!!!!! It's a bike snuggie! I called it a frock once but snuggie it is. Damn right people will buy anything, my stepmother proves the point. If there were no QVC she'd be in a mental depression.

The touch, the feel of
cotton, the FABRIC OF OUR LIVES

I use old sheets too and try to keep the bikes covered since they're stored in my shop area with a lot of dust and painting going on. The days of keeping them in the kitchen like DucatiBastard are long gone, kitchen is now upstairs and I also think I'd run into some internal household resistance. Luckily the stairs give me an excuse for not trying. I used to use the dishwasher for cleaning chainsaw parts, but that was a long time ago.
we don't cover shyat in the South. :o We ride year-round.
I use something similar to this when its in the garage. If I'm wrenching on it, it's in my indoor garage (complete with racedeck!).

I have a cover that comes down from the ceiling to cover all my bikes at once. Kinda like a stage curtain. I would love to be able to open the garage and see my beauties sitting there but I have to cover them to keep the kids and their friends from playing on them.
Yep, during winter my monster is covered with indoor covers. My triumph covered with an old bed sheet and a sock on the pipes (prevent spiders etc getting in) ;D
Last winter even with the cover, i had a mice nest on my monster right by the air filter. I was lucky no damage to my electrical wires etc.

Actually, I use the ones from Nelson Riggs. Cheap $20 soft covers just to keep the dust off.

For now, she's indoors. That's a risk (insects, mice) I was lucky enough not to witness - yet. Good thing to keep mindful of though.
Cover when indoors? yes. Always.
The garage roof sometimes has dust / gunk that falls below when opening and closing the big door. Keeps me from having it accumulate on the bike paint, seat and gauges.
I'd nix the heated blanket though even in colder climates. Cold storing a bike is okay as long as it's DRY. Pull the battery, fog cylinders if you'd like and call it a day. Unless the bike is in a heated garage, I'd keep heating elements off of the bike. One is that the engine can have internal condensation (heat vs. cold) or you might have a discoloration where the blanket is touching the paint or seat surfaces.
Just my 2 pesos.
