The past two weeks I've been inundated with emails and adverts for black Friday sales, pre-black Friday sales, some stores are opening at 4am this year.
Does anyone really go shopping at 4 o'clock in the friggin' morning?
Is it "black" Friday cause all these idiots get up when it's pitch black outside?
Biggest shopping day of the year as well as the biggest idiot day of the year.
I worked at Toys R Us for the season when I was 15. We opened at 4am on Black Friday and people were already lining up at 2am!
"The idea behind the term "Black Friday" is that this is the day in which retail stores have enough sales to put them "in the black" - an accounting expression that alludes to the practice of recording losses in red and profits in black."
I'll pay full price thank you very much. No way in HELL I'm shopping unless it's online.
What could be so great about shopping at 4 AM?

Drunk shopping!! Something tells me you wouldn't get what you went in there for.

+1
I would gladly pay full price versus having to deal with rabid throngs of mouth-breathers clamoring for "the deal".
My idea of "shopping" is knowing which store has it, going there, going directly to it, buying it, and getting the hell out and on the way back to my antisocial lair.
Someone needs to show up at one of these lineups with a chalkboard and give a lesson on opportunity cost.

It's 4am... Sac Duc and I are on the road to the toy store...
And by toy store I mean Duck-Stew's shop.
And by toys I mean a '71 CB350 and a 2005 Ducati 999!!! [evil]
It's 460 miles to Albuquerque
We've got a full tank of gas
Half a cup o' coffee
It's dark outside
And we're wearing sunglasses...
HIT IT!!!
[bacon]
The line at Toys R Us began at 8pm tonight
And without exaggeration
Went around the store and to the college next door
It was 36 and raining

+1 I wanted a new TV but after looking at the finances our current one is just fine.
Our local Best Buy had people camped out 9 days before black Friday. It was a family and they were taking shifts waiting. Just plain stupid.
yup. Just plain stupid.
Seeing all those yahoos on the TV news waiting in lines that wrap around the stores huddled in sleeping bags and tents for some reason always reminds me of zombies. Instead of going after the living and eating brains they are going for flat screen TVs, X-boxes and the latest ridiculous toy that every kid "must have". Someone should make a movie combining black Friday and zombies! I'd go see it... as long as it wasn't showing at 4:00AM and the line wasn't too long. ;D
No way I am even leaving the house today. I'll walk the dog and that's it! It's crazy out there! [bang]

So, African American Friday is inappropriate?
Sister went to the Tucson Mall last night to start black friday shopping at 12:01. I guess she shopped until 5am. I don't understand it.
In doing e-mail maintainence, I came across an e-mail from motowheels "Black Friday Specials"
must resist.....must resist
The cycle cat spocket cover looks very very tempting. ;D
Look what I picked up on "Black Friday"... [evil]
