Title: 2000 900ie wont grab the gear correctly
Post by: e46fanatic on December 01, 2010, 05:20:07 PM
I installed clip ons on my bike without a riser and didn't even think about it at first but the reservoir for the clutch fluid is at a little more of an angle and i think it may have gotten so low it let air in the system, so i bought a mityvac and bled it best i could, everything seemed fine i didn't see anymore air bubbles coming through but now i am having all sorts of maybe unrelated problems. It doesn't want to catch the gear anymore, it'll lunge forward like its trying to but no matter what i do it will stall, no matter how much gas i give it or how slowly or quickly i let out the clutch. I noticed when i started the bike in neutral and let out the clutch at first it lunged forward so i pulled the clutch back in and re put it into neutral and it found it, i don't know exactly what the problem is... is there air in the system? is it something completely different?? The bike has 4200 miles on it and is in otherwise really good condition.  thanks for any help

Sounds like you still have air.  You want the reservoir as close to horizontal as possible.
