Title: Re: Clip ons Post by: SacDuc on December 01, 2010, 06:15:34 PM Raise up the fork tubes and mount Vortex clips on over the triple. Replacement bars are cheap. By the way, ducpainter is about to move this thread to Accessories & Mods. Shame on you. ;D sac Title: Re: Clip ons Post by: Slide Panda on December 01, 2010, 07:06:40 PM Sac, you managed to understand that? Man...

How did you send a text message directly to the board? [cheeky] Title: Re: Clip ons Post by: xcaptainxbloodx on December 01, 2010, 07:33:54 PM 1. search. there are tons of options and most have been covered before.

After the amount of ridiculous bullshit we talked I can understand 53 different dialects of stupid. sac Title: Re: Clip ons Post by: booger on December 01, 2010, 09:29:30 PM Don't just 'raise up the fork tubes and mount Vortex clips on over the triple'. Changing the front end geometry like that will make it twitchy. Then you'll have headshake and tankslappers to worry about. The bike needs some trail after all.

Changing the front end geometry like that will make it twitchy. Then you'll have headshake and tankslappers to worry about. The bike needs some trail after all. That's being paranoid. The new model of Vortex clip-ons would only require you to lower the triple an inch or so to mount them above. This will not make a monster "twitchy." It will make it tip into turns nice and quick though. If an inch change in the geometry of a bike made motorcycles significantly more prone to tank slappers manufacturers wouldn't make the things adjustable at all. I would bet most of the folks on this board jacked up the rear from stock. Yet we are not bombarded with tank slapper threads every day. sac Title: Re: Clip ons Post by: Slide Panda on December 02, 2010, 12:26:37 PM After the amount of ridiculous bullshit we talked I can understand 53 different dialects of stupid. Ahhh, yes. You are a wordsmith. That's funny Title: Re: Clip ons Post by: The Bacon Junkie on December 03, 2010, 08:27:30 AM Dude, I just spent 3 days in a car with Bacon Junkie. Never had any issues with stability, but the extra weight on the front end made her actually handle great! Easier tip-in going into corners, I was able to hang off easier, carry more corner speed, and got great feedback from the front end... Unless you're riding at 10/10ths, you shouldn't have to worry about a tankslapper too much... Unless you're riding at 10/10ths, you shouldn't have to worry about a tankslapper too much... Funny....I made virtually the same modifications to my Supersport (though it came with clip ons under the top triple, but I mean the geometry changes) and it made an ill steering bike into a rider's dream. The only times I've had it do anything "funny" out front is when I get hamfisted with the throttle in lower gears whilst leaned in. I just don't get hamfisted anymore and I have no problems. ;D 19mm down in front (OK....3/4") and 25mm up in back (or an inch up if you're into Imperial units). I have also on occasion changed to a 180/55 rear tire from the stock 170/60, but I can't tell any difference in the front with the tire swap. In theory this should drop the rear 3mm, but I can't feel it. |
