Title: Heads up on plate mounting in California Post by: hbliam on December 02, 2010, 05:46:08 PM Thought some of you may need to know of a change coming January 1st, 2011. I'm just the messenger. ;)
Effective January 1, 2011, legislation amended CVC 5201 to include that license plates be mounted in a position so that the characters are upright and display from left to right. The amendment to CVC 5201 will affect vehicles displaying the license plate sideways or perpendicular. Title: Re: Heads up on plate mounting in California Post by: hbliam on December 02, 2010, 09:57:24 PM what if your plate has hebrew lettering? Then you didn't get it from the CA DMV. I'm just the messenger. ;) Huh? Meaning that until now & for the rest of this month you could mount your number plate downside up and/or bassackwards?? Effective January 1, 2011, legislation amended CVC 5201 to include that license plates be mounted in a position so that the characters are upright and display from left to right. The amendment to CVC 5201 will affect vehicles displaying the license plate sideways or perpendicular. Here in the People's Republic of Victoria they're authorised to shoot you at dawn for a fortnight if your number plate is some bureaucratically determined number of degrees too far from the vertical. Pack a protractor. And all you have to do is not mount it sideways.... My, how draconian :D. Title: Re: Heads up on plate mounting in California Post by: junior varsity on December 03, 2010, 06:18:05 AM Pics of the Diavel show the plate properly mounted. reading comprehension is fundamental. the carbon edition diavel is the one i referred to, and the plate is mounted sideways on that bike, it has a different orientation and bracket than on the non Carbon edition. You were the one being "smart" with your fundamental comment. Like I said, "Pics of the Diavel..." Put up a picture of the other bracket. The bracket that is going to have to be changed for shipment to California. Title: Re: Heads up on plate mounting in California Post by: hbliam on December 03, 2010, 11:45:37 AM plus, it's funny to stop them with some legitimate pretext to a search and to plant a buttplug and dog & horsey porn on them. hbliam: "wow, look at that.. well, I can't arrest you for having a buttplug and horsey porn, it's legal in California... carry on.. 'dude'..." he would make it like 5 miles down the road after that before one of his "brothers" runs him off the road. Like the old joke when searching a parolee's car. Cop: Any guns in here? Parolee: No way officer. Cop (after unholstering his own gun and "finding" it under the seat) Then what the hell is this? Title: Re: Heads up on plate mounting in California Post by: ducpainter on December 03, 2010, 12:53:59 PM Like the old joke when searching a parolee's car. That must be one of those cop only jokes...Cop: Any guns in here? Parolee: No way officer. Cop (after unholstering his own gun and "finding" it under the seat) Then what the hell is this? not funny to the average guy. Title: Re: Heads up on plate mounting in California Post by: hbliam on December 03, 2010, 01:27:40 PM That must be one of those cop only jokes... not funny to the average guy. Hence your handle of humorless. The parolee always laughs. Title: Re: Heads up on plate mounting in California Post by: duccarlos on December 03, 2010, 01:31:59 PM Had that law now for a while in FL. Was twice given a warning for my tail chop. Had to replace it completely.

Kind of a moot point given that the bike is so hideous it's unlikely anyone will notice the plate before their retinas are seared. :D Title: Re: Heads up on plate mounting in California Post by: Scotzman on December 03, 2010, 03:08:01 PM In addition to this change, the Governator of CA also approved the 435 bill requiring the EPA stamp on exhaust, but only on bikes built after 2013.
Title: Re: Heads up on plate mounting in California Post by: arai_speed on December 03, 2010, 03:12:23 PM In addition to this change, the Governator of CA also approved the 435 bill requiring the EPA stamp on exhaust, but only on bikes built after 2013. He also changed the law so that you now get a "ticket" for having an ounce of MJ w/you... Title: Re: Heads up on plate mounting in California Post by: duccarlos on December 03, 2010, 03:20:00 PM Come on guys, why start this BS when there is so much other BS we have to deal with?
Title: Re: Heads up on plate mounting in California Post by: sbrguy on December 03, 2010, 04:12:51 PM Sure, why not? Are we supposed to be scared of them? Bunch of *$#%@# losers. They are exactly the type (criminals) of people I am paid to stop. this is probably the one time hbliam and i agree on something. I completely agree with his statement here. Title: Re: Heads up on plate mounting in California Post by: hbliam on December 03, 2010, 04:46:46 PM He also changed the law so that you now get a "ticket" for having an ounce of MJ w/you... It's been that way for years. What changed was the violation is now an infraction instead of a misdemeanor. This means no mandatory court appearance. It also means someone carrying marijuana will be more likely to get a ticket then when it was a misdemeanor. When a cop issues a misdemeanor cite a report must be written. On an infraction no report is necessary. The marijuana will also be taken for evidence. As it is now most cops turn their heads and let it all go because it's not worth the paperwork. Now it won't be any. Title: Re: Heads up on plate mounting in California Post by: DoubleEagle on December 03, 2010, 05:43:48 PM The Steroidanator is turning into a Contrdictionator.
California is really turning into a make the beast with two backsed up State going the wrong direction ! Dolph Title: Re: Heads up on plate mounting in California Post by: mitt on December 03, 2010, 07:32:28 PM lets keep op ed's about politics and or police out of this, or it will be locked.
mitt Title: Re: Heads up on plate mounting in California Post by: Preisker on December 03, 2010, 09:28:54 PM What's funny is the cop talking about messing with the Red and White or the Mongols. I bet you don't do it by yourself if there is more than 1 of them. Probably just like the ch!ckensh!t cops in this town, Santa Maria, CA, that are afraid of the gang members and leave them completely alone. Sh!t, probably in business with them. And the joke about planting a gun under the seat, just goes to show that the ole story about finding any reason to pull anyone over is true. Ch!ckensh!t bastards.
On the other hand, I couldn't figure out why those guys with the stunt bikes and custom sport bikes turn their plates sideways, or put it up in front of the wheel where you can't see it. I don't give them any reason at all the mess with me. Title: Re: Heads up on plate mounting in California Post by: Speeddog on December 03, 2010, 09:38:59 PM That was fast.
