Title: Sourcing transistors...
Post by: ZLTFUL on December 09, 2010, 11:35:20 AM
So I am trying my hand at some electronics repair (purchased some audio equipment of exceptional quality in non working order).

The problem is, I need a couple of transistors but can't seem to find anyone that will sell me 2. I can find someone that wants to send me 2000 of them for a great price but unless I want to go into the EBay transistor business, this is uselss to me.

So, my resourceful friends of the DMF...help me track down 2 transistors...

Markings are:

  CET
CEP75N06
9C856

I have tried Radio Shack with no joy as well as another local supplier who has the same issue in that they don't need 2000 of them to sell me 2.

Help me DMF Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope. (Star Wars reference included for Adam's benefit)

Already contacted them (they also being the first "sponsored ad" on Google when doing a search for "transistor suppliers" ;) ).
They are supply chain management and deal with manufacturers and repair shops...they won't sell retail.

Thanks though...

Have you tried www.madisound.com/ (//http://) or www.parts-express.com/ (//http://) ?

Are equivalent replacements acceptable?  Have you tried searching for the applicable specs?

Here is one I found in about 5 minutes of googling "N channel Enhancement Mode Field Effect Transistor 75A 60V":

http://www.datasheetcatalog.org/datasheet/fairchild/NDP7060.pdf (http://www.datasheetcatalog.org/datasheet/fairchild/NDP7060.pdf)

This is the datasheet for the one you have:

digikey has the replacement for $3 each with about 30 day lead time.

I am not 100% certain this will work for you, since the specs are not exactly the same, but they are really close...

Nope - they don't have anything close.

Thanks Mitt.
I called up Digi-Key and worked with one of their guys...The one you suggested is the one he suggested and I have 2 on the way. Lead time is actually only 3-5 days so back in business.

Not a bad deal...$1800 worth of amplifier and surround decoder for $200. Under $9 to repair.

Cool - I was wondering if you had pursued it...
