Title: Will this fix (13mm Clutch & 16mm Master Cylinder Set)
Post by: Cati on December 10, 2010, 10:47:14 AM
Hello Tech Team,

I was wondering would this fit a 2002 monster 620. I called the company and the guy said if I have 2 brake pistols on the front wheel the 16mm brake will work but if not would have to go with the 13mm brake. My question is do the Monster 620 have 2 brake pistols on the front wheel. I'm at work now and can't check my bike at the moment.

I think you're confusing terms a bit.

Your brakes are made up of calipers, that have pistons (not pistol, but sometimes called Pots) in them. For a 2002 620 each caliper has 4 pistons. Some 620s had 1 disc and one caliper (4 Pistons), aka Monodisco. Others had two discs and calipers (8 Pistons). I'm not sure if 2002 had a Mono and Duo disc version.. but that should help you answer your question

Beginning part way into the 2005 production run of 620s they changed from having two 320mm discs with 4 piston calipers, to two 300mm discs with 2 piston calipers. An easy way tell tell the difference is color. The (more desirable) 4 piston calipers are a gold color, while the 2 piston ones are black.

That kit will fit your bike, which has 2 x 320 rotors and 4piston calipers.

Stock set up is with coffin master though (brake fluid reservoir built in on the master).

From the looks of it, this kit might not have mirror mounts, brake light switch or clutch switch.
All of which you'll probably be able to reuse from your existing components.
You'll need new reservoirs though.
Probably new brake lines too - the angle of the attachment is different.

You can get complete kits, just like your stock parts, for about the same price.

The masters in this kit are the black goldlines, so the mirror mounts will be on the bracket clamp. You can order clamps with the mounts from them for cheap, or go bar end.
