Only dove and quail any more for me. And feral hogs if they give me a chance! Not that mad at deer and ducks these days. Used to be.

My 13 (soon to be 14) year old step son shot his first deer hunting with his Dad the weekend after Thanksgiving. Nice 9 point buck! His Dad picked up the antler mount and processed meat last weekend from their lease in west TX. I gave junior a Ruger model 77 .223 w/3x9 Leupold last year for Christmas. What his Dad had him using was for shit! Little fart has shown zero interest in shooting it all year long. >:( Damn video games! [bang] His Dad finally got him to put a few rounds of ball through it at the lease. I had it dialed in with some handloads a friend gave me. One shot one kill on his first buck!! Dad said it was a good 100-110 yard shot. He's still telling me all about it and how he didn't have buck fever! Cracks me up! [laugh]

I went out for opening week of Buck season.  Saw a bunch of youngins and heard a couple black bears but no shooters.  I'd like to get out again, hopefully the schedule will allow it.

Good luck on the cougar hunt!

There are a lot of stories about the Mountain Men eating "panther"   Many of them preferred it  - I'd give it a try.  If its protein, I can make it edible in a Dutch Oven.

Got a 2 year old cow elk in the 2010 Arizona muzzleloader season; the teenager is already tired of elk for dinner. I'm not.  [thumbsup]
