Title: upgraded gearing for 2000 750 Post by: rsoffar on June 10, 2008, 07:19:12 PM what are some popular gearing upgrades for this model?
i have had it recommended for me that i dont go to the 14t front but stick with the 15t and upgrade the rear instead. i have not decided if i want to change the gearing yet just checking my options. also chain recommendations.... the DiD erv3 was recommended to me but being a poor college student i want to ask if the DiD VM520 chain will be fine for me or if the erv is worth the extra coin? im new to the bike world so any help i can get is awesome. (i know a bit about gearing changes being the toy i traded for the bike was my jeep haha but chains and such are new terrain for me) Title: Re: upgraded gearing for 2000 750 Post by: Speeddog on June 11, 2008, 07:49:54 AM Changing the rear sprocket is the better option, but it's not *drastically* better, and it's more expensive unless you need new chain and sprockets anyway.
14t front is a relatively cheap experiment to see if you like the gearing lower. VM is likely just fine. Title: Re: upgraded gearing for 2000 750 Post by: rsoffar on June 11, 2008, 08:55:42 AM yeah the reason im looking into it is im gonna be getting a new chain and sprockets anyways.
so if i stuck with the 15t front what rear do ppl usually go with? Title: Re: upgraded gearing for 2000 750 Post by: Speeddog on June 11, 2008, 01:38:07 PM What gearing are you running now?
How does it feel to you? What kind of riding do you do? Title: Re: upgraded gearing for 2000 750 Post by: ducpainter on June 11, 2008, 02:58:05 PM I run 15/42 on my SS for the track...
not sure if it's a valid comparison as I've never ridden it on the street. |
