Where did this happen? Arizona of course. It's a good thing that the Arizona helmet law is in place and being observed....probably what saved this guys life. Title: Re: 157mph Motorcycle Crash Post by: DRKWNG on December 30, 2010, 08:57:03 AM Damn! Not really sure if I'd want to survive that crash or not...
Title: Re: 157mph Motorcycle Crash Post by: Billyzoom on December 30, 2010, 09:09:23 AM At that speed it was most likely a 620.
Title: Re: 157mph Motorcycle Crash Post by: fastwin on December 30, 2010, 09:33:50 AM Damn. The only recognizable parts are a chain, part of a muffler and a rear wheel. Didn't know 620s had that much bodywork. [laugh]
Title: Re: 157mph Motorcycle Crash Post by: hunduc on December 30, 2010, 09:56:43 AM that will buff right out
Title: Re: 157mph Motorcycle Crash Post by: DRKWNG on December 30, 2010, 09:57:19 AM Damn. The only recognizable parts are a chain, part of a muffler and a rear wheel. Didn't know 620s had that much bodywork. [laugh] Dude, there's a brake rotor in there. Title: Re: 157mph Motorcycle Crash Post by: ducatiz on December 30, 2010, 10:34:41 AM graphics from the Song of the Sausage Creature
it just looks like a CAT D5 ate a bike and shit it out. Title: Re: 157mph Motorcycle Crash Post by: sbrguy on December 30, 2010, 11:02:06 AM yeah i have to agree, the person may have "survived" but i'm curious to know if the person is still walking and has all their limbs and such. damn that is one crazy horrific crash.
after reading that link , i don't think that guy will be released out of the hospital except out the back of a hearse, like they say "extremely cricitcal condition" damn even moto gp bikes that crash going at the same speed don't desintegrate as bad as that bike did, guess the bike hitting a pole at 157mph will do that. i can only find a wheel, a chain and 1 brake rotor in those pictures as anything belonging to a bike. damn. i think the "immeasurable stupidity" is the overwhelming factor above all else in that equation. Title: Re: 157mph Motorcycle Crash Post by: sbrguy on December 30, 2010, 03:31:41 PM remember showya was probably going just as fast if not faster when he crashed, that doesn't make it ok or good, just saying any motorcycle crash is a massive craps shoot no matter what, and probably this guy won't survive past the next week.
but you are right, sometimes it just is not fair. RIP to all those that pass on. Title: Re: 157mph Motorcycle Crash Post by: jim_0068 on December 30, 2010, 08:26:35 PM Their bodies are more relaxed upon impact. correctomundo...my EMT friend said drunks don't have the reaction time to "tense up" when approaching impact like a sober person does and it most cases it helps injuries. Title: Re: 157mph Motorcycle Crash Post by: Heath on December 30, 2010, 10:32:22 PM I bet his insurance rates go up. Hard to get insurance when you don't even have a license lolTitle: Re: 157mph Motorcycle Crash Post by: Ahks on December 30, 2010, 10:40:30 PM From what's left of the taillight & exhaust cans it might have been a R1. an '05ish r1 specifically given that shade of red and the fact that it was white letters on a black belly pan :p got a buddy that accidentally pushed his r6s to about 120. another guy i know pushed his r6 to 175 on his "I wonder what it can do" ride after breakin. R1's may have still been without a speed-limiter in the '05ish's... and theres a group of guys that race a couple times a summer from the detroit river to flint. nutters blew my doors off and i was merrily cruising @ about 95 northbound I-75. fairly certain that whole group of bikes was going atleast a buck fifty in traffic. the jap sport bikes are retarded fast. Title: Re: 157mph Motorcycle Crash Post by: DRKWNG on December 31, 2010, 05:24:12 AM 175 on an R6? He must have replaced the "6" sticker with one that said "620".
Title: Re: 157mph Motorcycle Crash Post by: rgramjet on December 31, 2010, 05:57:29 AM In the Summer when we sleep with the windows open, packs of inline 4's can be heard, working the curves on 495 at high speeds.......sometimes as late as 4-5am.
Title: Re: 157mph Motorcycle Crash Post by: MadDuck on December 31, 2010, 08:28:30 AM the jap sport bikes are retarded fast. The Japanese sport bikes are not any faster than the Italian Ducati sportbikes, or the British Triumphs or the German BMW. I have ridden all four. In the big picture it is only the rider that is retarded fast. [laugh] Title: Re: 157mph Motorcycle Crash Post by: DRKWNG on December 31, 2010, 08:31:30 AM Or just simply retarded.
Title: Re: 157mph Motorcycle Crash Post by: Ahks on December 31, 2010, 08:39:03 AM The Japanese sport bikes are not any faster than the Italian Ducati sportbikes, or the British Triumphs or the German BMW. I have ridden all four. In the big picture it is only the rider that is retarded fast. [laugh] True but the yamaha street bikes are really really close to the same thing that hits the track in WSBK Also bolded part above is VERY true. and after DRKWNGs reply to my post i looked it up. it is possible for a 150lb guy to hit 175 on the speedo of an r6. very possible. it's just that the speedo is so inaccurate at that speed that it was closer to 160mph actual :p And to nudge it back on topic... Is 157 in a 45 a felony? Title: Re: 157mph Motorcycle Crash Post by: fastwin on December 31, 2010, 09:49:16 AM I'm thinking this whole story is really just about natural selection at work. And thank God the drunk moron didn't hit/hurt/kill anyone else other than himself and his bike. Problem is he most likely doesn't have health insurance and the citizens of AZ will have to foot his soon to be astronomical hospital bill. [bang] Oops, did I just trip over the cord to his medical respirator?? Damn! ;D
Title: Re: 157mph Motorcycle Crash Post by: ducatiz on December 31, 2010, 10:58:38 AM Or just simply retarded. well, booze will do that. Title: Re: 157mph Motorcycle Crash Post by: fastwin on December 31, 2010, 02:50:17 PM I plan to get a tiny bit "retarded" this evening myself. But only after I am safely home from dinner with the wifely unit and junior. [thumbsup] And certainly at a much slower pace than 157mph!! [bang] New Years Eve is not a good time to drive/ride even with only a beer or two in you. The police have gone WAY out of their way to advertise their increased presence this evening. [leo]

He may have been up to 157 mph, but I kinda doubt he actually hit something and lived when he was going that fast...perhaps he fell off and slid for a few hundred feet while only the bike hit the concrete pole-base....
