Post by: MIGUEL on January 03, 2011, 05:30:31 PM
I have a 2002 ducati monster.... im looking on  ebay for a set of key speedo and ecu.... all i see is sets for a 2006 m1000 and a 2007 m900. would they work for me....

Also i got in contact with desmo houston they told me they can sell me a speedo. that all i had to do is send them my ecu key and speedo.... that they make me another key, reset me speedo if its good... or set one up for me with my ecu....
that really dont need a red key.... after they set my speedo up....
need help my first bike...

Miguel,

The 2002 Monsters are odd in that they are the first year of the immobilizer system and last year for the old motors (750 & 900).  So, finding that one specific year might be tough.

If Desmo-Houston says they can help, might be worth a shot...  If Desmo-Houston is the guy from Desmo-Porsche, I can verify that he knows his stuff...

you don't need the red key if you immobilizer is removed, that's what Houston Superbikes will do for you but make sure you ask.

Houston Superbikes will remove it.  The little bugger is in the software that needs to be re-flashed by them.

You will no longer need the red key if they disable the immobilizer, in other words, your electronic theft deterrent is gone.  I think most of us, including me agree this is a good way to go.
