Title: Air Conditioned Jacket Post by: DoubleEagle on June 10, 2008, 09:04:21 PM Someone w/ more smarts than me please tell me why an Air Conditioner Condenser couldn't be hooked up to a Ducati and w/ a hose ,take the cold air to the inside of your Jacket.
Title: Re: Air Conditioned Jacket Post by: ducwrx on June 10, 2008, 09:27:03 PM How exactly would this work. In a car the cold air blows out and disperses. If you piped cold air into your jacket, it would get really cold in one spot unless you're wearing a jacket 2 sizes too big, in which case you'd look like the Michelinman.

Title: Re: Air Conditioned Jacket Post by: somegirl on June 10, 2008, 09:43:23 PM It would be like trying to run the A/C in a convertible with the top down, or outdoors on a balcony. Just a waste of energy.
Title: Re: Air Conditioned Jacket Post by: DuciD03 on June 10, 2008, 10:09:45 PM Natures air condiitioning; you just use elevation .... ride into the mountains silly! or find a glacier to drive by .... ;D
the native indians had it right; .... the liloette band has spring summer fall and winter places where they live; summer is at hign elevation; in the mountain by a lake, good fishing, lots of berries .... that joe rocket has something so simple that it might be good! Title: Re: Air Conditioned Jacket Post by: NAKID on June 10, 2008, 10:37:09 PM Plus, you would need an additional belt to drive the condenser along with trying to find a place to put it...

If you piped cold air into your jacket, it would get really cold in one spot unless you're wearing a jacket 2 sizes too big, in which case you'd look like the Michelinman. How about setting it up like a Goldwing and blast the cold air out directly towards you from vents on the bike. Then you could wear mesh clothing and get the cold air on your skin. Better yet, just buy a Goldwing. Do Goldwings have A/C ?Title: Re: Air Conditioned Jacket Post by: Big Troubled Bear on June 11, 2008, 06:22:08 AM Do a search on airflow motorcycle jackets, if what you suggest were possible the your search will deliver zip [bang]

Well, there are many more parts to an AC system than just a condenser. Compressor (need a way to drive it), evaporator (what the air blows across to get cooled down), TXV/Orafice tube (metering device to keep the system from freezing solid), condenser (changes charge from hot gaseous to cold liquid state), hoses, refrigerant etc etc. You get the idea.... Fuhgettaboudit!! Just use a vented jacket/pants. Most of the jackets have liners for colder weather that can be removed. Title: Re: Air Conditioned Jacket Post by: RandyFloyd on June 11, 2008, 10:45:31 AM or you could retrofit a jacket with a bunch of thermoelectric coolers...http://www.sciencestore.co.uk/StorePeltier.asp
12volt... Title: Re: Air Conditioned Jacket Post by: somegirl on June 11, 2008, 12:20:40 PM Reviews of cooling vests (http://www.webbikeworld.com/cooling-vests/)
Title: Re: Air Conditioned Jacket Post by: SKOM on June 11, 2008, 12:43:54 PM My bike has an a/c switch. When in gear I turn the right handlebar grip towards me. The more I turn the cooler I get. ;)
Title: Re: Air Conditioned Jacket Post by: Popeye the Sailor on June 11, 2008, 06:22:37 PM You shouldn't be riding anytime soon, anyways, so stop thinking about it.
Go heal up now. Title: Re: Air Conditioned Jacket Post by: dlearl476 on June 11, 2008, 06:47:56 PM It would be like trying to run the A/C in a convertible with the top down, or outdoors on a balcony. Just a waste of energy. FWIW, I thought the same until I bought a convertible. Running the AC works great, with the windows up. When its 120 ? out, you take anything you can get. Title: Re: Air Conditioned Jacket Post by: hypurone on June 12, 2008, 07:45:08 AM I also use one of these Cool Danna's. Awesome product and makes all the diff between feeling hot and feeling like you're goona die out there...
