This is going to be super noob, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer anywhere. I bought a 2002 M750 Dark, and it says 750 Dark i.e. on the plastic panel below the seat. I read various places that the i.e. mark indicates fuel injected, but am pretty sure I am staring at a couple carburetors under my airbox. Am I crazy or is there some variation here?
Look closely from the side to see if you have wires plugging into those "carbs" underneath the airbox. The 750 i.e. is a fuel injected bike.
I think your bike is an "example" of a 750. I think the FI bikes are +03 or is that the SV's? Pretty sure monsters are too.
The side covers are from another bike?
'02 is the only year the 750 Monster was fuel injected. In fact all Ducatis were fuel injected except for the Monster 400 which only went to a handful of markets. Either you think the throttle bodies are carburetors, your bike has been modified or it is not an '02.
You can download an owner's manual for your bike here:

Do you have a flashing light on your gauges when the bike is shut down?
If you lift the tank are there ignition coils and little black boxes mounted near the battery?
If the answer to the first question is yes, and the second no your bike is injected.
Even with the high-throttle warm-up switch? I thought a FI engine wouldn't have that.

The early, not sure about the latest, fi Ducs had manual fast idle.

are you talking about the yellow/orange security light that flashes for ~48hrs? Yes I have that. Not sure about the coils, I can check tomorrow in the daylight. I do know there is one larger box on the right side of the battery.

Yes.
If you have that light your bike is indeed a bike that is fuel injected.
The large box...is it silver? That's your ecu.
I believe what you think are carbs are in fact the throttle bodies. There is an injector mounted on each one. It will have an electrical connection also.

Gotcha. I'll take a closer look tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

Not sure when it dropped off, but I know injected bikes had the fast idle through 2006.
SD - It's just a 2nd cable that runs down to the throttle cam as well. If you (have enough reach to) crouch by the right side of your bike, you'll see the cam, if you operate the fast idle you'll see it move the cam a bit.
Yeah, the carb bikes have a "choke" and the FI bikes have a "fast idle".
But your bike is definitely fuel injected.

Actually the carbies have an enrichment circuit.
Not a choke.
I have a have a 2002 750 senna... and i was told my bike has a choke so it has carb that it wasn't f/i. is that true...

If it's an '02 it is FI and the lever is just a fast idle.
I don't know if its an f1... i know its a 2002 monster 750senna... whats the f1 for....
FI = fuel injected [thumbsup]

No. You're thinking of the extremely rare 750 e.g. [roll]
Regardless, the OPs bike (and the 2002 750) are injected
IM LOST.

I DIDN'T SEE IT.... IT SAYS 750SIE IT GRAY WITH RED RIM..... IM LOST IS IT THE SENNA SOME WHEN I GOOGLE IT... AS THE 750SIE OR AS 750 SENNA MY BIKE COMES UP... BUT IM NOT SURE....
1) Turn off your caps lock OTHERWISE IT LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE SHOUTING.
2) Trust us. Your bike is fuel injected.
Someone really needs to update our FAQ to include info on Fuel Injection and Immobilizers (the two most common questions)

Any volunteers? ;D
sorry thanx.... its my first ducati.... im like a kid.... but love this sit....... learned so much....
No worries. I mean it's not like we're born knowing what a carb is, and you've got to start learning somewhere...
(Except for 'Stew, he was born knowing about engines ;D)
Cool..... Because i got a lot of questions..........
