Rest in Peace sir.
After watching Band of Brothers I did a bit of reading on Dick Winters and he was an admirable man.

I like to think he's having a well-deserved reunion with his "company of heroes" ...

The greatest generation is rapidly moving on.  Anyone who hasn't
Had the privilege of knowing someone from that time is missing a
Perspective / ethic which is much less common today.

Rest in peace sir, you've earned it.

what is interesting is that when i read about Major Winters in all the interviews and second hand stories you get the general sense that the guy had "IT".

you know the God given talent for something that when a person has IT they are on a completely different level than anyone else, in this case his charisma to lead and be a leader.

When you have "IT" its not something you can work on or you aquire its something you are born with.  Just from the interviews and articles you get the vibe of why the men he commanded thought highly of him.  Naturally they aren't going to publish the stories of the guys that absolutely hated him, and i'm sure there are those stories, but still you get the sense that overall he had that talent to be a good leader.

And that is rare, and its truly sad that America has a great example of what a great leader can be.

RIP
