I'm in so cal so most of my riding is in moderate weather. I can usually get away with a few thin layers under my perforated leather suits when it's cool, but when it's COLD, I need a bit more. I think a simple windbreak layer would do the trick. Any suggestions? I was thinking of a rain suit, but they tend to be a little flappy, right?
Back in the day I had a Tourmaster, single layer shell jacket with multiple pockets (no thermal layer, no armor or padding) that would go over my leather stuff when things got chilly, but I cant find anything like that anymore.

Mmmm...how 'bout temperate then? [laugh] We were riding in 45° weather. I was wearing my two piece, the jacket with liner, a technical fleece neck-zip, and a thermal long-sleeve tee. Additionally, I folded a fleece vest and placed it against my chest under the jacket. Wind still creeps in.
you need something wind proof, like say a golf rain pullover. I wear one under my leathers when it gets a bit chilly in the fall
but then again two winters ago i was riding in the high 30s
haven't done it this year yet
now i have a one piece rain suit that is great for the winter. will be going out this week with it over my stuff.
I'm right there with you in SoCal so this is how I usually dress:

Google "Enduro Jacket".

You look like an extra in "A Christmas Story"!
Such a classic movie.
I've always worn a non-breathable $12 rain jackets from Walmart or Target over perf'd leathers (or even non-perf'd leathers) for winter riding. Works well and is a really cheap solution. And I can't tell you the number of times it's started raining or misting and I *just happened* to be wearing a rain coat. I can normally find one that fits without too much flapping, even over a speed hump on a suit.
Lately, I've been wearing a windproof heated vest under my perf'd leathers, but my balls and arms still sometimes get cold from the perfs. So sometimes I wear one of those tight fiting rain suits that you see racers wear over their race leathers. It's like a stretchy, waterproof leotard with long arms (no legs, but covers your crotch). I got it at CycleGear for pretty cheap. It looks goofy as fack and isn't easy to get in or out of, but works really, really well.

we need to see pics of you in it to judge the goofiness
I wear Under Armour Base Map 2.5 Crew and Leggings under my leathers .
They are Under Armour's warmest gear.
Also wear a pair of thermals over them or have wind proof zip neck thermal top and wind proof bottoms like running pants I can wear over the Under Armour Base Map 2.5s.
Dolph.... :)
Well, I decided since this is hanging in my closet already...not just rain proof, but water-proof! With a 1/4 inch thick technical fleece undersuit it's toasty. Kevlar knee sliders!

What is that? Looks almost like the top of a diving dry suit

It's a DUI CLX450 drysuit.
get a trash bag, probably one of the 13 gal sized and cut holes for your head and arms. put it on before your jacket. voila. airproof.
