Title: Front sprocket extra space
Post by: Nomad on January 11, 2011, 05:26:54 AM
This is probably a stupid question, but I'm installing a front sprocket for the first time.  Is there supposed to be room for it to be pushed back against the engine further before I tighten up the bolts?  When the bolts are tight there is a fairly good sized gap between the back of the sprocket and the engine, is this normal?
Thanks

Yes there will be space between the sprocket and the engine case when it's properly installed. Don't fret - but it's always a good idea to check the alignment of the chain to ensure the sprockets are lined up.

^^^  +1  Chain line is much straighter with the sprocket towards the end of the countershaft.

Cool, thanks fellas.  Stay tuned for more very basic questions.  I'm going to be putting on a new rear shock, forks, coils, fcr's, other odds and ends, and the 6k service myself.  Should be a frustrating winter  ;D  [bang]
