Title: Ducati Desmosedici GP11 Post by: Monster Dave on January 13, 2011, 09:38:22 AM Finally released from his contractual obligations with Yamaha, Valentino Rossi can officially begin his duties working for Ducati Corse this week, and Ducati has already capitalized on the moment by showing off Rossi’s new leathers to great fanfare. Now the pièce de résistance and the end to our torment, Ducati has finally debuted the Ducati Desmosedici GP11 at the 2011 Wrooom media event, a joint launch event between Ferrari and Ducati held in the Dolomite Mountains.

I was actually surprised when I first saw the bikes in person since I expected red and not dark orange. I'm hoping that with HD and LED TV's they'll change the color back to red. [roll] I think you meant mysteriously, not mystically [roll] Obviously you're a huge fan and I've just stepped on your toes! The Kid's a hard worker but Rossi's the GOAT. Agostini himself couldn't even compete with him today. I'd be alright with the Kid winning another GP but I just don't see it happening. He's been busting his ass trying since '06. Once the battles begin on the track the Kid's going to make a hell of a lot of mistakes, and the Doctor doesn't make the beast with two backs around. I'd put good money on it. We're all hoping for complete domination this season, but moving to a completely new chassis, engine, and design team will make for a very interesting and nerve-wracking debut at the very least!
Title: Re: Ducati Desmosedici GP11 Post by: Raux on January 17, 2011, 09:39:12 PM yeah but wouldn't that be a statement to see Rossi or Hayden 1 & 2 on every race this year.
Title: Re: Ducati Desmosedici GP11 Post by: The Don on January 17, 2011, 09:51:25 PM If Rossi doesn't dominate with the amount of money that they are throwing at him someone in management will get there arse kicked.

You're kidding, right? Getting Rossi, if he wins or not, is a huge win. If he's not fast on the bike, they can always say that they didn't have enough time to make their changes. They buy themselves another year and then they can come up with another excuse if he's not fast next year. In the meantime, they sell tons of 46 accessories to millions of diehard fans. I don't know about that. Rossi's name is becoming kind of like a brand name being tied to a product. Kleenex = tissue, Coke = soda, Xerox = photocopy, Rossi = MotoGP. He is sorta the ambassador for the series. There are people on Suzuki & Kawasaki websites I frequent that are excited about Rossi moving to Ducati. Title: Re: Ducati Desmosedici GP11 Post by: ODrides on January 18, 2011, 08:48:53 AM Either way, Ducati is starting with a bike that was only moderately successful against the Yamaha when piloted by a guy who is no longer on the team. They sure as hell better be willing to listen to the guy who made that Yamaha what is! And I'm referring to decisions other than color scheme ;)

You might want to frequent the Racing section where pretty much any article published about Val has been posted. The short answer is yes, they've been taking suggestions from both Val and Burgess.
