Title: Riding Past 7500 Maintenance Schedule
Post by: socalsurfer on January 16, 2011, 12:58:39 AM
I just got the signal on my monster 696 dash to go in for the scheduled maintenance at 7500 miles. I was going to sell this bike, so I don't really want to have to pay for the cost of that and then sell it. I'm wondering how long you can continue to ride the bike though without going in for the maintenance?

Until something breaks!

Hoenstly, you could go a lot or a little, just depends on how you treat your bike. Generally speaking though, ull see an imporvement in performance if u do the 7500mile service just because the bike has begun to break in. ive ridden as much as 3,000 miles over the scheduled maintaince.

If you are going to sell it, do note that the buyer will normally take that into account and you'll end up paying for it in some form either way, so price accordingly.

i agree with heman,

if you are going to sell it and the maint light is on, they are going to give you considerably less. Hopefully you'll find somebody who doesn't know what that means, so you may be able to say "oh that silly light..", but then Karma will come a knockin' on your door, like in My Name is Earl

unfortunately, i think that like 85% of people considering buying a monster are hanging out here for months beforehand... shit, i was visiting and even posting (on TOB anyway) for like a year...

like AM said... karma is a pregnant dog.
