Title: fuel line connector o-rings
Post by: booger on January 16, 2011, 11:54:18 AM
The o-rings on the plastic fittings that attach to the underside of the fuel pump assembly - I assume they are replaceable? Two per fitting, one is blue and the other black. What's the difference? I tore a black one pulling the fittings when I drained the tank for the winter. I have a box of assorted metric o-rings that are I assume buna-n. Do I have to buy new fittings from Ducati to get the proper o-rings, are they available separately, can I use some generic nitrile o-rings or do I need viton? Anybody have a clue what size they are ID/OD? Even if an o-ring seems to fit if it's not exactly the right size it can leak.

I'd like to know too.  Sooner or later I think I'll be needing some.

I've used Viton o-rings as replacements from a set I got somewhere...probably Harbor Freight.

We have some at the shop. If you email Candice and say I posted here, we'll send you a pair in the mail for free. I'd like to double check that they're correct. I've put them on my bike, but I prefer it best when a "random customer" can confirm for me that they are correct.

McMaster-Carr carries all sorts of o-rings.  Good source for stuff.

That's awesome. Thanks Chris I'm going to take you up on it.

Anyone know what the difference is between the blue and black?

This is as good a place to say "Thanks" to you guys at Ca Cycle! I ordered a new chain/sprocket/carrier set up for the S2R just before Christmas... all was perfect. I waited on putting the new plugs in till recently and lo and behold in with the spark plugs is a Nestle Crunch Bar you guys sent. After installing the plugs, I ate the candy bar and thought what a great help you are to keeping us running. Now about the mid sized Hyper tank... :)

As for the o-rings...I posted some info on the dot ms site in the Hall of Wisdom.

If anyone has info that confirms or conflicts, please don't hesitate to reply. Thanks.
