Title: Worst Blow Job EVER!! Post by: VisceralReaction on January 18, 2011, 10:29:13 AM So I ride the ST3 down to the girlfriend's Saturday, nice ride, cool and comfy for freaking January in north Idaho.
Tool around a bit over the weekend. This morning I get up, after 5 hours of sleep. I get on the bike and it wont start. I fiddle with it and the lights light up and the fuel pump primes and nothing. I am about to go back inside and tell the GF I need her car when I realize it’s in gear. So I put it in neutral and start her up. Cruise through town and start up the hill. At the very top the wind hits from the side. Turns out above the valley i was in they had a wind advisory for 45 mph winds with higher gusts. Right at the top of the hill, WAP the whole right fairing goes flying off. Gee it’s a wonder what happens when you are going 60 with a 40mph side wind and realize you FORGOT THE make the beast with two backsING BELLY PAN BOLT that ties it all together. FML. Post by: VisceralReaction on January 18, 2011, 10:40:32 AM Dammit I didn't even think of pics, and to top it all off the battery was dead last night after all this and i walked 7 miles to home in make the beast with two backsing old boots, god my dogs hurt today. I think the battery is just old, 6 years now and hoping the fairing didn't do something to the wiring as it took flight to cause a drain.

I have always held blow jobs in high esteem. Unless the blow job you are speaking of is more literal, referring to the wind as the source of blowing and the job, being the fairing ripping apart. Now that is a type of blow job that I wouldn't enjoy.

The plan is to take some fiberglass molds off the top half or so of the mid-fairings and make a pair of skirt fairings that attach to the top fairing and come down far enough to cover the coils & coolant tank. Inspired by this bike:

I could just cut the existing mid fairing, but I can make a curved lip at the bottom of a fiberglass one, instead of a straight cut edge. It'd be nice to be able to go back to full-fairing if it doesn't work out, and if it does work, Ebay-ing the mid & lower fairings could finance a decent sized chunk of the project. I think I understood the only actual part that was ST was the tank. I liked the look alot. Just having to tear it all down and redo the wiring harness and figure out how to relocate the radiator overflow etc scares me. [bang] |
