Title: Sargent seat for the new monsters Post by: korey on January 18, 2011, 02:31:19 PM I was just on Sargent's website browsing around after ordering a seat from them for my Monster and stumbled upon this. Looks like they're going to release a seat for the 696/1100 Monsters soon. Also at the bottom it says if you do their pre-registration you get the seat at a "below-retail" price, sounds cool for the people with the new Monsters on here. It lists their number as 1-800-749-7328 so maybe someone interested could call and find out how much cheaper it will be?

I wonder how much it will be. anyone know how much their seats are anyways, other monsters (could have check on their site, too lazy.)
Title: Re: Sargent seat for the new monsters Post by: Raux on January 22, 2011, 03:47:57 PM interesting, but I thought the 796 had the exhaust valve too.
the slope of the passerger look good to stock the push on stopping, but that angle in the back looks like it would feel like the passenger is sliding off the back. one of the main complaints of the wife already. Title: Re: Sargent seat for the new monsters Post by: Raux on January 23, 2011, 01:44:37 AM maybe 100+ mph on the Autobahn creates that effect? nah, she won't let me go that fast with her on the back... kinda scary when you are riding two up and cars are going by about 30-40 miles faster and you're doing 85 already. Just let her get her own bike then.... ;D Title: Re: Sargent seat for the new monsters Post by: Raux on February 01, 2011, 08:35:00 AM the slope of the passerger look good to stock the push on stopping, but that angle in the back looks like it would feel like the passenger is sliding off the back. one of the main complaints of the wife already. My M750 came with a Sargent seat. It's constructed very well and they use very nice materials. Although it was a nicely constructed seat, I wasn't crazy with the wide width of it and it didn't fit my skinny ass as well as the the OEM seat. I was able to send in the OEM seat and they did a great job of doing a recover. I'm super happy with it and the customer service was top notch. :)
Title: Re: Sargent seat for the new monsters Post by: Desertbilly on February 15, 2011, 08:40:51 PM My Sargent seat showed up tonight for my 2010 M1100. I haven't ridden on it yet, but the fit is perfect, the cowl fits fine, and it seems quite comfortable for sitting on it in the garage. The sloping, slide-forward effect is completely gone. The 'butt' surface feels wider and flatter. The foam is nice and firm. I don't know anything about upholstering, but the assembly seems very good. So far, I couldn't be happier with it.
I was on the pre-registered list, so I got $50 off the $399 price. I ordered it last Monday (2-7), they confirmed my details by email the next day, and shipped it on Wednesday (2-9). I got the basic, black surface with the black welt (as not to conflict with my IoM 78 skins.) Title: Re: Sargent seat for the new monsters Post by: Moschy on February 16, 2011, 12:11:49 AM Photos??

I like the feel. Broader than it appears, and plenty firm. Downright roomy for such a small bike. The covering does not allow sliding fore and aft, but does allow sliding left and right. No flaws in the craftsmanship. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one again. Title: Re: Sargent seat for the new monsters Post by: dennisd on February 18, 2011, 05:58:35 AM How does the weight compare to the OEM? I know Corbin seats feel like they add lead to them. I'm on the pre-registered list so I guess I need to make up my mind pretty soon.

The OEM seat is 3 lb 10 oz; and the Sargent is 5 lb 0 oz, on my electronic kitchen scale, which I presume is pretty accurate.Title: Re: Sargent seat for the new monsters Post by: Desertbilly on February 19, 2011, 09:46:57 PM +1. Title: Re: Sargent seat for the new monsters Post by: dennisd on February 20, 2011, 07:50:43 AM The OEM seat is 3 lb 10 oz; and the Sargent is 5 lb 0 oz, on my electronic kitchen scale, which I presume is pretty accurate. Thanks Desertbilly, that's what I wanted to know. I've gone to great lengths to reduce weight as much as possible on my M1100 (less is more, right?). I'm actually pretty comfy on my modified OEM seat. I removed the cover and shaped the foam for a flatter riding perch; got rid of most of the forward slope but still have enough foam that I never feel the seat pan. I think I'll just stay with what I have. Title: Re: Sargent seat for the new monsters Post by: DucatiTorrey on February 20, 2011, 09:05:57 AM great looking bike man, keep it clean!
also, whats with the new (to me) 796 light up in the redline light area, the yellow one? don't think my 09 696 has that Title: Re: Sargent seat for the new monsters Post by: Dr. D on February 26, 2011, 01:47:36 PM This Sargent seat is great! [thumbsup] Now I have no sensation of being pushed forward, my sit bones are cradled, and when I lean off I can sit on the edge of the seat while still feeling attached. Good design and execution. The weight? Heck, I got plenty on me to get rid of. [laugh] Title: Re: Sargent seat for the new monsters Post by: BCMonster on February 26, 2011, 04:33:44 PM that sucks... pay money to add 1 lb 6 oz to your bike. do you know how much that would cost to reduce later in titanium or AL parts?! Just never fill up. Certainly running a quarter tank would save some weight. ;) Title: Re: Sargent seat for the new monsters Post by: Duc796canada on February 26, 2011, 10:22:47 PM My Sargent seat showed up tonight for my 2010 M1100. I can't seem to see the difference in options listed between the two other than one is -19 and the other is -11. I was looking into the Standard, non-heated, with the Red welt and Carbon FX as it is the standard one offered, thanks, I might just be a numpty :) Title: Re: Sargent seat for the new monsters Post by: Duc796canada on March 17, 2011, 03:01:36 PM Got my seat today, very well made!! I got the WS606-11 regular height for the 696 just to have the storage under the seat. I have a 796, but have removed the flapper motor, so this one works! Under storage compartment, seems water tight, so good for insurance, some ID etc. Can't wait to get some good weather in the next few months to try it out, I know I will be pleased! Great workmanship from what i see and you have a year if anything falls off or tears though normal use(disclaimer) :) Man when is this winter over? I know i shouldn't be complaining, people in Japan are having a rough time :(
