Title: Re: Aprilla RSV cafe bike build Post by: MadDuck on January 22, 2011, 12:22:03 AM NO question that it's a beautiful bike but there are glaring difficulties with it, most notable being the tiny radiator UNDER THE SEAT with only two small electric fans to make it work. Aesthetically an A++++ but I doubt it's anything workable on the road.
Title: Re: Aprilla RSV cafe bike build Post by: erkishhorde on January 22, 2011, 01:03:06 AM That headlight is huge! And the engine looks so big too.
Title: Re: Aprilla RSV cafe bike build Post by: Raux on January 22, 2011, 01:27:31 AM yeah saw this one yesterday was well.
really loving the complete design. Aesthetically an A++++ but I doubt it's anything workable on the road. The radiator is mounted under the seat, and apparently works well. “The cooling fans are standard … they draw a huge amount of cool air from around the engine into the front of the wedge, and of course all the hot air is blown down and away from the seat. So the seat temp is quite normal.” Title: Re: Aprilla RSV cafe bike build Post by: Oldfisti on January 22, 2011, 07:44:01 AM Wow that is slick.
Beautiful execution but he needs to tuck a few wires away. Title: Re: Aprilla RSV cafe bike build Post by: fastwin on January 22, 2011, 07:56:12 AM Wow, that is absolutely stunning! :o [thumbsup]
Wonder why it took "hundreds of hour(s) of fine tuning" to get it to run right? Sounded like it was a stock ecu with a PC. And a well known race shop couldn't get it sorted and gave it back in worse shape?? WTF?? Still, a really well thought out and designed cafe bike. [clap] [bow_down] Title: Re: Aprilla RSV cafe bike build Post by: kopfjäger on January 22, 2011, 09:20:23 PM I say it trumps any Monster I have seen to date. (water cooled that is) [evil]

(water cooled that is) [evil] id say it trumps every street bike ive ever seen. the manx is my absolute favorite bike aesthetically/historicallly and with the performance aspects of that build.... [drool] sure there are things that I would do differently, but all minute details. Norton NEEDS to make a production bike like this. (water cooled that is) [evil] rotax has nice maintenace intervals too [thumbsup] Title: Re: Aprilla RSV cafe bike build Post by: MadDuck on January 23, 2011, 09:13:24 PM The radiator is mounted under the seat, and apparently works well. “The cooling fans are standard … they draw a huge amount of cool air from around the engine into the front of the wedge, and of course all the hot air is blown down and away from the seat. I see what the guy says but I'd have to test drive it to believe it. Title: Re: Aprilla RSV cafe bike build Post by: sbrguy on January 23, 2011, 09:40:08 PM as long as you are going fast enough its probably fine, just don't take a cafe "racer" like that to downtown LA rush hour traffice then its probably horrible. [cheeky]

Title: Re: Aprilla RSV cafe bike build Post by: DucHead on January 25, 2011, 04:04:00 AM Beautiful!
No clear pics of the left side, where I assume the coolant hoses reside. I'd sure like to see how they are routed back to the radiator! Edit: OK, I see two coolant hoses, but only one connected to the radiator. Where is the other hose? Title: Re: Aprilla RSV cafe bike build Post by: LA on January 31, 2011, 10:20:29 AM Yep, that's beautiful. The Aprilia and the KTM's are really nice compact engines.
Isn't that tank an old Norton knockoff? Love those tanks. [thumbsup] LA Title: Re: Aprilla RSV cafe bike build Post by: xcaptainxbloodx on January 31, 2011, 10:42:39 AM Yep, that's beautiful.
