I should have been working on the monster, but instead:

Anyone else into RC?
Electric Lawn Darts!!
Very cool. I had a plane once...crashed it on it's maiden voyage! [laugh]
I was into boat racing for quite a while though, as well as cars. Tons of fun. I'm sure I'll get back into it when my son is old enough. [thumbsup]
LOL, same here. I crashed my first RC plane 5 seconds into its first flight. I got into RC cars when I was in high school with my room mate. RC10 was all the rage. But then I got lazy and started playing video games...
awesome, some friends and I bought EFlight Blade MSR (http://eflight%20blade%20msr)'s. 7in. rotors, 4 channel, 1oz. those things are super resilient, for the first couple weeks it looked like a mosquito hawk bouncing around the room. It's a great way to into heli's cause it's tough and parts are cheap.
I haven't flown RC for a few years not but still have a few laying around. Here's a pic of my 3.1M Extra 330 that I used to fly IMAC with back in the day. The big ones fly so well that once you try one you'll have a hard time going back. It's like moving up to an S4RS from and first gen. M750 [thumbsup]

Here's a little video my flying buddy put together of me having a little fun with the Extra.

Is is possible to embed videos from photobucket to the site?
Very cool! My grandfather spent about a year slowly building this:

In the end, after considering how many hours of work he put into it, he decided to keep it as a trophy of his effort rather than ever fly it. I think it would have broken his heart to crash it.
I know that helicopters are much harder, but I've always wanted one of these big boys:

Here's one of my 3.3m Yak 55sp from a a couple of years ago. She's powered by a 212 cc 4 cylinder boxer engine running on full lenght tuned pipes. At idle it almost sounded like an old KZ1000 [laugh] Sadly I lost interest in flying (after a 30 yr RC habbit) and have sold of all but a few smaller models.

We did a build project back in high school when I was in scouts. Had I not gone off to college soon after, RC would have been a major money pit for me.
In regards to the big ones, I got bored pretty easily by them and eventually had to start making them do things that learner planes weren't designed to do :). I almost got a chance to fly one of those thousand something dollar stunt planes, but the owner wrecked it doing a botched low altitude loop-de-loop [bang]. It was both exhillarating and painful to see that little bastard fly into the ground at 80 miles an hour :)
That little guy you built looks kinda delicate, Taft. What kind of flying do you do?
Nice to see so many DMFers are involved in RC! I dont partake, but I do take an interest... I grew up around it as my father has been flying models since the early 40s. Both my brother and I tried our hands at it, but we didnt appreciate the whole build-it-crash-it-rebuild-it philosophy.
Yesterday I was out riding near Lake Casitas when I noticed a side road I hadnt seen before. After a few corners, it had a long straight that a couple of locals were using as a model runway.
Here's some of my Pop's work. The Beriev is his latest, 1/5 scale (electric power):

So I take it you're going to be your own air traffic controler? ;)
Back in college i used to race on-road cars and made the gradual step into the brush-less li-po setups which causes a $200 car to go 70+ mph. That was a blast we actually had transponders and a computerized lap counter.
...Umm gotta go see if there is a track around me.
This is some pretty cool RC action...
