Title: Ducati 904 FS in FS Forum
Post by: 666r on January 28, 2011, 11:52:56 AM
Im interested in this engine posted in the FS forum and was wondering if anyone knew what the outcome of putting W heads on to an engine that originally had V heads would be? Thanks for any info!

The valve angles are different, so there's a chance there is interference. You'll need to do a dry assembly & do a wax test (http://ducatitech.com/2v/maint/rebuild/headwork.html).

If there is interference, the pistons will need to be changed out with the W-headed pistons OR have the ones in the engine machined to create the proper clearance pockets. I was told this by Bruce Meyers way back in the day when I asked him the same question... :)

Sorry to just butt in, but could anyone chime in an enlighten me on this V and W head business?
