I'm going to be putting some floating buttons on my rotors, and will have them disassembled.

Forks are going to be anodized black soon, curious what you think about putting the carriers in with them?

I don't see a problem with getting them anodized as long as they are aluminum. Many manufacturers anodize their carriers (e.g. Braketech, Brembo HP). Don't know the durability vs having them painted/powdercoated though.

i wouldn't powdercoat as that adds significant size unless you sand down everywhere you have a hole or the thickness where the buttons sit.

paint would probably be the same

anodizing would be the only way i would go with, and kinda seems the standard on OEM

I ended up just cleaning them off.  If I want to change them up at a later time, I can.  Easy enough with the clips being removable.

Trying to tie up all the loose ends on this thing so I can ride it come spring time!

I see no issue with anodizing them, since as someone else has pointed out, most of them are anodized already.

Here's my questions: Should they be anodized with a hard (type III) or will conventional work? And related to this, would there be any issue to removing the anodization (if say, you didn't like the current red on the buttons?)

Basically, do they require hard anodization?

the STM buttons are/were hard anodized...at least the black one's were.

I've never seen hard ano offered in colors.

to echo others, ano is the norm for the carriers:  discacciati normally sends 'em out with red ano, beringer will let you pick the color (red, blue, gold, black, etc), Brembo HP is normally gold or black ano.


isn't there a gray hard ano as well?

Surefire claims their Olive Drab lights are hard anodized.  Good to know if you are considering a multicam or Urban Dark Earth Monster color scheme; for the zombies.
