Portland Timbers fan. There's a great fan base here and our mascot runs around with a freakin chainsaw.

Timber Jim:

New guy, Timber Joey:

I believe KnightofNii is a soccer fan as well.

If you come out, let us know. We'd love to meet up with you (and any additional supporters) and catch a game. We may be able to offer up a room as well.

Timber Jim retired in '08 at 53; Timber Joey is his replacement. Its still a fun show but I would have like to see Jim before he retired.

I typically only follow inter, but a good friend of mine is a huge Arsenal fan...so i'd have to say that's my EPL team...

I dont follow US soccer much, but that chainsaw dude is scary as hell...does he just cut wood before the game?

Knight of Ni -did you catch the game this weekend?  that is how I get my rush in the winter...and that game was a hell of a rush...

Oh heck no. He cuts a round off the log behind the home goal any time the Timbers score. He also is a part of the crowd, revving the chainsaw. It gets LOUD.

The old guy, Timber Jim, also used to climb the spar as well as hang from the rafters with a drum.

I don't follow soccer at all, but I have to agree, that is freakin cool!

When I have my own mascot, he'll definitely have a chainsaw.

When I get my own mascot along with those things^^ a job and his own teeth would be a huge plus!  [laugh]

Love Football.  Don't follow it as much now.  My favourite growing up with Manchester United.

At the sametime, I do not follow American Football.  Never got into it.

Oh man, I remember Timber Jim from the NASL days in the early '80s - who'd a thunk the perfect fit for soccer would be a screaming two-stroke?  Then again, I guess now they've got the moral equivalent in those damn vuvzelas...

The team I try to keep up on these days is FC St. Pauli (which should get easier when they clinched upgrade to the Bundesliga in 2010). Something about building a team with a fan base of anarchists, prostitutes, punk rockers and other denizens of the Reeperbahn just seemed too wonderfully absurd to ignore, and it's been fun following them ever since.

Tickets are booked for pdx.

If your offer to show a poor east coaster around and let me pass out on your lawn still stands I would be happy to take you up on it. I'm thinking of getting a hotel for after the game though. Something close to the stadium and with my SoB brethren.

Lemme know!

Absolutely man. You ok with a couch and a slobbery dog? She's not as pretty as your moose but she's very cuddly.

I'll PM you so we can get everything worked out.

Ooooooh  -  TFC!!!!!!!

Toronto FC is my number one team in the MLS.

Barca in La Liga

Man City in the Premiereship

Inter in Serie A

Stuttgart in Bundesliga

Toronto FC opens this week in Vancouver and then come home to knock down the Portland Timbers on the 26th.

Just the fans and the game, that's it.

Running time, no commercial breaks, no cheerleaders, no mascots, no music during play.  No organized fun, no waves in the crowd, just drunkenness and singing.

It requires desire and patience, for that patience you are rewarded, your eyes must be glued to the play.  Anyone who has played knows it's damn hard to kick a ball where you want it to go, while running at full speed as well, one touch is magic.

I hope to see Barca and Real go at it in the semis of the Champions League.  And Man U and Chelsea should be good too this round.

That Timber Jim is freakin great!!! What a foto!! I'm a DC United fan and we too plan on coming to Portland for our first game there. We will be expecting some heavy razzing up in Portland!! We went to Philly and Toronto for DCU's first games and had a blast. Great time in both those cities!!! The opposing fans were great. Gave us plenty of stick but we are all civil enough to share pints as well. Expecting it to be just as great in Portland. Our home opener is tomorrow. Can't wait!! I do love Football in general and also follow La U Catolica de Chile and Man U as well. Thank God for women, beer, football and Ducati's!!

You and I would seriously get into it.

La liga-Real Madrid
Premier -Manchester United
Serie A- AC. Milan
MLS- Houston

Kinda polar opposites here, huh?

October 19th is a long ways away for when TFC visits Philly.  I'd welcome you up here for the May 28th match, but I'll be track riding at Mosport for the Ducati Owners Club of Canada 3 day festival.  Oh, poor me to have to choose between my two favorite things.
