Title: Re: winter mods complete...i think? Post by: xskiervh on February 13, 2011, 01:59:00 PM Nicely done. I like!
Title: Re: winter mods complete...i think? Post by: jc.cyberdemon on February 13, 2011, 02:08:20 PM its been done on an extremely tight budget i have about $2500 into the whole bike including the cost of the bike so I think i did pretty good. [thumbsup]
btw ive never owned a bike before this and had never worked on one. i bought the bike last june and have already done my own belt and valve adjustment and all the mods also. Of course none of this would have even been possible whithout all the help i got on here :D Title: Re: winter mods complete...i think? Post by: minnesotamonster on February 13, 2011, 02:31:07 PM Nicely done.
How do you like the exhaust? Fit, Finish, Sound, etc? I've been kicking around the idea of ordering a set. Title: Re: winter mods complete...i think? Post by: jc.cyberdemon on February 13, 2011, 02:36:12 PM so far im happy. havent been out to ride yet but i like it. I went from the chopped and cored to these and they are a bit quieter but not much. they look nice if you dont mind them being a bit small. i was actually torn between the carbon fiber and the conical exhaust they make. The only reason I got thee were that the conical use a hanger that wraps around the cone and not an actual bracket behind the cone as they should be.
Title: Re: winter mods complete...i think? Post by: xcaptainxbloodx on February 13, 2011, 03:28:24 PM [thumbsup] for a low budget bike that doesn't look low budget.
do you have risers and clubman's? it looks like if you took them out then rotated them up slightly to clear you would have room to clear and better downward angle (assuming you want it more sporty, that looks like a comfortable position). Title: Re: winter mods complete...i think? Post by: jc.cyberdemon on February 13, 2011, 03:42:38 PM i actually was thinking about taking the risers off but when i do i think
it would be too much of a downward angle. im pretty tall and with the risers it puts the hand controls about level with the top triple and about a 30 degree downslope seems to feel nice but looks a little weird with the risers. Title: Re: winter mods complete...i think? Post by: mors vito on February 13, 2011, 04:10:38 PM It looks really nice! [thumbsup] I can't wait to put on my danmoto now!
Title: Re: winter mods complete...i think? Post by: uglyducky on February 13, 2011, 04:20:46 PM great job man! very impressive that you got all that done on $2500. and FIRST BIKE?? that's insane. i've been riding for 20 years and just learned where the turn signal switch is last week. congrats and well done [clap]
Title: Re: winter mods complete...i think? Post by: jc.cyberdemon on February 13, 2011, 04:29:50 PM i work at my fathers bodyshop so i know cars pretty well. bikes are pretty simple imo. but like i said a lot of it was reading and asking questions. im also planning on making a small front cowl sometime soon, and new front signals among other thing.
Title: Re: winter mods complete...i think? Post by: Mojo S2R on February 13, 2011, 08:02:34 PM Very nicely done. [clap] Really hard to believe that was all for under 2500 including the bike. [thumbsup]

Title: Re: winter mods complete...i think? Post by: jc.cyberdemon on February 14, 2011, 04:24:35 AM Very nicely done. [clap] Really hard to believe that was all for under 2500 including the bike. [thumbsup] i will come up with a list of cost and stuff but i know it wasnt more than that, the bike is a salvaged title and the person who owned it before me replaced the tank that was damaged leading the ins. co. to total it. so there isnt anything wrong with it. and yes it is a steel tank. Title: Re: winter mods complete...i think? Post by: dropstharockalot on February 14, 2011, 07:57:28 AM Looks great, regardless of what you spent on it.
I can't tell how you did your taillight from the pics... care to elaborate? Also, it looks like you've got an extender from your exhaust brackets to the straps on the cans... was there a problem with the fit on the exhaust? Title: Re: winter mods complete...i think? Post by: jc.cyberdemon on February 14, 2011, 09:25:43 AM the headlight is just a dual setup that i bought of a member here, had to modify the
wiring but it wasnt bad. It just bolted up to the existing headlight mounts. I plan on replacing the mounts with ones that clamp onto the forks. The exhaust is intended to be set up like that (I think) It came with the extender and i assume thats how it is used. I still gotta adjust the bracket a bit to get it to line up better but alot of why mine dosnt line up is because the bikes been dropped and the stock rearsets are kind of bent a bit. Title: Re: winter mods complete...i think? Post by: thought on February 14, 2011, 10:48:01 AM looks great man... and keeping it to that price point is pretty damn impressive
Title: Re: winter mods complete...i think? Post by: Slow Guy on February 14, 2011, 10:55:04 AM yeah the taillight looks pretty pregnant dogin man! How for did ya do it?

Post by: jc.cyberdemon on February 14, 2011, 05:42:28 PM yeah the taillight looks pretty pregnant dogin man! How for did ya do it? the lights themselves are just led strip lights from autozone they can be cut to length and run off 12vthey have double back that stick it to the panel and i drilled small holes behind them to run the wiring. |
