Title: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: hatewinter on February 14, 2011, 02:21:55 PM Holy ***t........I live in ohio and we're getting 40degree weather. Do you know what that means? Well..it means that the wonderful life that you warm climate monster owners have been enjoying is soon going to be available to us people in terrible weather states. Knowing that is enough to make today a wonderful day.

Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: Veloce-Fino on February 14, 2011, 02:29:21 PM Yea!! Here in PA it's 46F!!!
Too bad My bike is sitting in the garage waiting for the exhaust tip.... Lots of bikes out today, funny seeing them with so much snow on the ground. Is it supposed to get cold again or are we set for the season? Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: fastwin on February 14, 2011, 02:50:07 PM It's 71 and sunny here in DFW. Rode the Gixxer 1000 to get a new inspection sticker today. [moto] Supposed to be nice and around 70 all week. Beats the ice bowl we had the week before and after the Superbowl. This is TX and we don't do well in ice and snow. And it usually slaps us again in early March. I'm digging the nice 70 degree riding weather while I can. [thumbsup]
Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: thought on February 14, 2011, 03:00:01 PM just got back from a nice long ride :) around the 50's here in nj... gotta wipe down the bike a bit later from all the snow melt spray, but it was nice :D
Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: Timmy Tucker on February 14, 2011, 05:40:41 PM 64 here today in East TN. High 50's to mid 60's rest of the week. [moto] It's a welcome change after the unusually shitty winter we've had thus far.
Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: Timmy Tucker on February 14, 2011, 05:54:58 PM This is TX and we don't do well in ice and snow. First time I ever went to TX, I got off the plane in SAT and it was 16 degrees and snowing. I had no make the beast with two backsing idea that ya'll had weather like that. Neither my coworkers or myself came prepared. That was a make the beast with two backsing miserable 2 weeks of rain and snow at Ft. Sam. Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: jc.cyberdemon on February 14, 2011, 06:01:40 PM i spent six horrible weeks in san antonio, It was april/may and like 100 degrees. Probably the worst time in my
life and vow to never return to texas. Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Probably the worst time in my life and vow to never return to texas. :'( :'( :'( :'( too bad because you missed some of the best roads near Bandera and Big Bend. Hell it's only 100 for a month or two. Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: Witty Name Here on February 14, 2011, 07:29:17 PM 47 Deg in Mass. Did 80 miles today. Had to watch out for snow run off in the shade. Got sideways a couple times.

Knowing that is enough to make today a wonderful day. Pfffffffff! i'm in the louisville area. this weather is just retarded. single digits last week and mid 50s to 60s this week. why did i decide to do a mini project. :'( it'll be worth it though. [moto] happy motoring to you lucky MO FOs. WATCH OUT FOR LEFTOVER SALT AND CINDERS. Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: muskrat on February 14, 2011, 09:32:06 PM we have about 5 inches of sand around every turn [bang]
need a biblical flood soon to wash this shit away so we can get back to the budness of ridin [moto] Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? So yea, sucks for you. Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: KRJ on February 14, 2011, 10:50:10 PM It's Global Warming I tell Ya, it's a Sign..... Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: KnightofNi on February 14, 2011, 11:06:50 PM i will not let this weather lure me into a false sense of spring.
the winter gear stays out, and the constant distrust of anything that looks less than bone dry will continue until it's closer to 50 at night for a few weeks. make the beast with two backsing winter.... Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: Düb Lüv on February 15, 2011, 04:22:17 AM It's Global Warming I tell Ya, it's a Sign..... here's my sign for it. [thumbsup] Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: eichh on February 15, 2011, 04:46:50 AM I got my first ride of the year in yesterday. It hit 40 here in Illinois which after the -50 windchills felt more like a 60 degree summers day. That's one nice thing about a bike that's mostly aluminium, stainless and carbon fiber is that it wont rust the second it touches a salty snowy road. It does need a bath due to the tail chop which always seems to leave a rooster tail mark on the rear fairing.
Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: Africaboy on February 15, 2011, 08:16:26 AM We have had a pregnant dogin' winter in the Great White North. Just finalized plans to trailer to Daytona for Bike Week in March. Yes, I realize there's no twisties in Flo-Rida, but you can't exactly ride in the weather here either. It sucks having to sit the winter out!
Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: jc.cyberdemon on February 15, 2011, 09:10:13 AM supposed to be 48 here on friday might take it for a maiden voyage...gotta figure out a way to get it out of the garage and a steep hill covered in snow!
Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: seevtsaab on February 15, 2011, 09:56:49 AM Temperature has nothing to do with our riding season in VT.
It's all about road condtions. First the snowbanks gotta melt, they are prodigous this year. My dirt road has to be reasonably stable for a bike (barely passable for a cage at times) thru mud season. The roads are completely white when dry now, from all the salt, God we love our salt here. But I'm loving winter right now, while the duc is waiting patiently for new shoes, tethered to it's battery tender, waiting to roar to life. Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: Timmy Tucker on February 15, 2011, 08:22:58 PM It was 57 here today when I went for a ride. Rode for about 2.5 hours, got home right at dark, temp was approx 45. Last 30 mins were terrible. Don't know why, I've ridden with the same gear down into the mid 30's and wasn't that bad off. make the beast with two backsing sucked.

Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: jc.cyberdemon on February 16, 2011, 09:21:28 AM gonna try to get it out today, any suggestions on how to get my bike up a steep hill covered in ice?
i was thinking of getting some wide planks and driving some spike through them, then riding over the planks just picking up the one behind it and placing it in front ect....stupid? Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: jc.cyberdemon on February 16, 2011, 10:28:24 AM its all ice not really snow anymore
Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: thought on February 16, 2011, 11:25:30 AM its all ice not really snow anymore i'd still try to dig out a path... or sand/salt it out... your first method sounds a bit... iffy... what i'm picture is you putting the bike on it's stand on a steep hill to move the next plank up... and then turning around and seeing the bike sliding back down the hill just as you set up the plank in front of it. which would suck >.< Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: jc.cyberdemon on February 16, 2011, 12:16:17 PM i thought of that 2 was planning on getting a hand moving the planks ;D
Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: muskrat on February 16, 2011, 03:52:49 PM trailer the bike up the hill ;D
Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: ab on February 16, 2011, 10:09:00 PM rode a friends bike a little bit Sunday. That was fun.
I am too lazy to put on my battery on bike, lube the chain, change the oil and ride eventhough tommorrow is supposed to be in the low 60's. I am going to wait till March when spring gets here. besides, I hate to start the bike now in middle of cold season eventhough we are having few days that are warmer, rather wait and defrost her first ... Title: Re: Riding Season......what's that? Post by: jc.cyberdemon on February 17, 2011, 12:12:59 PM got it out today! went for a ride also..got a bit wet but not bad, still a little slick in some spots.
