Hey guys, im thinking of starting a business that requires wire to be bent, flattened, welding and coated. I can do CAD drawings and design myself, but need prototypes made, and possible manufacturing done on a scale starting in the dozens. I don't really want to say what the product is, but it does involve two wheels somewhere near this item. Each part might only cost cents or very few dollars to make.
does anyone know of a company (preferably in the Colorado (and veen more preferably in the USA) areas) that may be able to provide this? high precision isn't a huge huge deal, but i would like it to be within a 1/16" if possible.
Also, if you do, it would alos be cool is this company provide design ideas, like cutting cost, or reducing the number of manufacturing operations (thereby reducing cost)
thanks in advance, i have done a google search and found some out east, as well as a few in Denver, just looking for first hand experience, or companies any of you might work for.
TIA
Jim ;D
Sounds like you need to talk to a mechanical engineer. 8)

I used to purchase baskets and custom wire fabrications from them for special liquid and powder painting part hangers.
awesome thanks guy, yeah an ME would be great, but i think I have the knowhow to design it, just need a manufacture, who might offer idea like, do this simple thing not that, and save money, wa la!
i9ll check out that link for sure
Not sure what size wire you are doing, but I have visiting this supplier and was impressed:

Nothing like seeing a cnc bender put out a tube with a dozen complex bends without a single kink or tear... I am not sure if they do solid wire, but it has to be easier than tube.

hey thanks mitt, looking to do 1/4 inch rod, and yeah, those machines are the shit.

Really neat plant too.. they got their start being the world leader in manufactoring the little metal plates inside 3.5" floppy drives. Last time I went inside their they still had the dyes sitting in a box for them, I asked why -- and apparently from time to time they still run a batch for a customer.
