Title: M1100, Clear screen removal.
Post by: BRH on February 18, 2011, 11:40:04 AM
Hi, I have a M1100 with the small nose cone above the headlight, what i want to know is how to remove the clear screen.
The 4 screews don't seem to be allen bolts, so what are they ? and what size are they ?
     Thanks.

It's been a couple years since I took it off but if they aren't allen heads they are probably the star head screws.  I don't know if that's the technical name but the sizes are designated with a "T" followed by a number (T5, T6, T7, etc.).  Sorry I can't be of more help but, as I mentioned, it's been quite a while since I took it off.  I'm sure somebody else can chime in with a little more help but int the meantime give the stars a try.

They're called Torx head screws and they're pretty common. They were invented to allow greater torque to be applied without stripping the head. Don't understand why the windscreen would require that kind of fastener though.

A 1.5 mm allen will work.
