Indisputable proof that Teff is a rain whisperer

He was at a little Restaurant in Gods country last night
which shall reman nameless.
his table was outside .......... yes it rained.
So they put him at the bar.....rain stopped
Out to his table ....................rain started
back to the bar......................rain stopped
back again to his table...........yep you guessed it
...........................................rained again
Three times !!!
this is absolute proof that a black wet cloud gathers
above Teff's old noggin.............Brian are you sure you
want to come to Kangaroo valley next week I hate getting wet  ;D

neighbour friendly ??

Rob S.....its 8.45am Sunday......i just txt you asking to come for a ride........your reply txt sais, let me quote you word for word....."The weather is not looking good atm and wife is still naked lol "    yet i see you lit up in here like a Christmas tree you lying shitt.......Please go and put your girly magazines away, clean yourself up and get that öld "Monster out of mothballs....!  None of this soft c......k stuff.....Bikes are meant to be ridden....not jus tfor  polishing up bolts and stainless mate...... ;D.....anyway......i think you have done enough "polishing" for one morning........   [roll]

Harsh!
just thought I would quote you so you cant remove your terse and cruel comments about my dear friend Rob  ;D

What a crap ride it turned out to be for me [puke]
Road was wet and greasy I felt like I had no control or confidence on the bike,
we waited for nearly 40 minutes in the rain at the servo for Teff (the rain god)
gave up so off we went .
The bike felt really sketchy as I tried to throw it into the nice corners down hill from PITS
then got the wave down from Paul  :o  looked at my rear friken flat with a nail hanging out of it  [bang]
Rob to the rescue  [thumbsup] with a tyre plug and limped home.
Never saw Teff but got an angry sms from him that we didn't wait [roll]
Sorry had enough and didn't want to risk loosing all the psi again..............oh well they cant all be nice rides
Could of been worse
a lot worse if I ended up binning the bike.

Teff next time you organize a ride, can you actually be there  on Time
You go and send Me and Dez and Paul on a wild goose chase, broke all stops to be there on time ,and rode in the rain , Dez with a punctured Tyre.
And you come up with a lame excuse you lost your KEY [roll]
Let it be known you were still in bed polishing your Tool polishing the Harley  [roll]

Is that it ????  :o
A puppy expunges your sins of letting your monster brethren bath in the lack of the Teflon glow
huddled in a pathetic group with the Autumn rain tarnishing there steeds ?
Limping home with a flat tyre ,
a ride un finished ! a day ruined !
a wife waging her finger !
a dog looking at me with
"you left me at home alone for that "

Okay Ill pay that............................I am a dog lover too.

Thats why we call you

  "The Teff"

it just slides off like a turd glossed with olive oil down to Bondi  ;D

You know, I must have only just missed some of you guys last Sat. I did head out fairly early (left North Syd around 6.45am) and was at the RW around 8am. Hung around for a coffee & bacon & egg roll, then back up to Gosford.
I'm certain I saw the bloke everyone refer's to as 2 Dog's on the cruiser (just a guess as the plate was "2DOGS"), but that would be it. No other Monsters to speak of.

What's wrong with an early start anyway, apart from the completely numb fingers, hands, legs, neck ............

It was 10 degrees when I left home, I'm certain it would have been at least 4 - 5 degrees colder at Berowra + the wind chill factor.

No wonder my hands went numb, but I wouldn't have missed it for anything, it was a brilliant morning out. Glad you all enjoyed yourselves too, albiet just a little later on.

Great Vid (except for the music) :)

Where do you have the camera mounted? Is it a go Pro?

Title: Re: Weekend Coffee Rides
Post by: dan_t on May 21, 2011, 06:55:27 PM
Yup. GoPro Motorsport, mounted on the carbon fibre belt covers with the suction cup, hence the slight 'wobble' when under harder acceleration.
Yeah, I know, the music is....hmmmmm..... :-\

It's only my second attempt, so still trying to figure it all out & the best mounting positions etc.

Nice vid Dan ... the Boss and I just watched it together - had us laughing:

Me: "watch out for the gravel"
the Boss: "and the bumps ... one, two ... and the thiiiirrd ... there it is" [laugh]

Matty ... any chance of a GoPro group buy from one of your retailing friendlies ;) [cheeky]

Yeah, I had to cut it down from 26 min's to the 11 min mark. I find there's something kind of fun watching a stretch of road you're familiar with.

I'v only just bought this go pro through a group buy, did pretty well out of it too.

If there's enough real interest, I would be happy to talk to the retailer who supplied mine to see if he's interested in doing one here. Not quite offering to arrange it, just happy to ask him the question !!!

It's a possibility, a group buy that is. But the place I have bought all of my stuff from lately already has pretty good pricing on all of there stock.
I guess it would depend on how many are in the group buy.

Which model did you get Dan and what did you pay for it in the group buy?

Oh and nice to hear you are out and about Jukie, I would love to have had a ride this weekend but there are other things to do right now.

Nice to finely meet some of the Ozmonster Crowd at RW today. Jukie, the new tail chop looks great...now what to do with those pipes!!! Maybe some locally made Monster Horns? Or a set of Andre's Slip Off's....Certainly a different look, Andre, Have you tried taking the mid pipes off at the udder?, paint it silver and instant Quad Ex-box.

Hope to see you guy's out on a Ozmo ride soon

If Im not mistaken, I think someone is trying to gee me up. That custom 'slip off' system ur bagging out peaked at 128hp on a conservative dyno  :P. And without cans its light as.

Look Shayne, ur bike looks good with the Quat D ex box too  [laugh]:

Crakin day up the Old road with some familiar old faces.
Basking in the winter sun having a chin wag over  [coffee]
was almost as good as the ride.
Brian set a very nice sedate pace which was probably good due to some green as grass
moss on some of the darker corners with the added joy of creeks still running through the
apex of others.
Max........... well Im not going to spill the beans here but hope all went well today  [thumbsup]  [wine]

Yes it was good to meet up with a few of you over the weekend ... weather hasn't been kind to us lately and everything has gone a bit quiet (rides, socials, general forum activity) ... so it was good to get out and catch up - apologies for being my usual boisterous self.

I was actually a little surprised about how quiet the Cafe was on Saturday but suspect the police presence on the Old Road had something to do with that. Definitely a lot more activity on Sunday ... also at PITS.

Sure did. I had the GoPro initially attached to the rear peg, then off the side of the tank. I did see a couple of Monsters heading north around Berowra as I made my way back home. Probably around 9'ish. Other than that, didn't see anyone else out that early.

Unfortunately I was not one of those Monsters yesterday. However I did cycle past the Mobil as you were about to leave. Sorry I did not stop, but I figured you didn't want to be caught talking to a lycra bandit (in my best lycra, I might add) so I kept pedalling by.
Maybe next time...

Ok, Ok, Ok enough of this Tom Foolery.

I've been lurking around here for quite some time now, even contributed my own inane comments occasionally to some random topic that I know nothing about, but I still haven't met anyone!

I guess my habit of a somewhat rude early Sat morning ride isn't shared amogst other Ducatisti, so I'm prepared to make a concession here.

Who is up for a bit of a meet & greet this Sat morning, with a possible ride out to Wollombi (weather permitting)?
If that's too far for everyone, a short(er) blast up & down the Old Rd with an obligatory stop at the Road Warrior also sits just fine with me.

I'd normally be passing the Mobil @ Berowra around 7:30 / 8'ish, but am happy to push this back to 9'ish instead if that helps.
Any takers?

Was a nice  day never seen so many bikes up the old road and the wisey section was very busy.
No [leo], and not as cold as i thought it was going to be. just a tad windy up the top at Mangrove Mt'n
And yes Betty it could be wider down to Wiseys, a lot of pot holes at the Mangrove Mt,n end.
And this time of year even at 11am allot of shadows across the road very hard to see the road with a dark visor.
Oh and that big dude Dez was talkin about it weren't me ok [evil]

Going to have a look see up the Ol' Road, hopefully the seaspray has blown away.....

---------

Well post trip, ran into a couple of regular OzMo's @ RW. Road a little damp, and had a wee white knuckler on the way back....12 sec mark, front slip's and I get a bit crossed up...all in a matter of 0.5sec....

Quick slide (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkqToWFIA0I#)

Looks very little and quick, however felt a whole lot bigger....Front end just sort of slide and turned in

Wasn't going fast, however you can just see the patch of wet road, and it must of just broken traction.....

Still scrubing in new rubber so was taking it very easy but very happy with the Conti's

Planning a Wisemans Ferry ride tomorrow
It will be the Usual suspects :  Robbie and Sir Teff and my self.
Planning on a bite to eat down by the water and a brisk ride back down the Old road.
Not an early start as my daughter Paloma is in the netball Grand finals  [thumbsup]
and I am the "official" photographer so probably a 11.30 ish start .
Meeting point to be confirmed later tonight as the old buggers are squabbling about the start point.
Max  allowed off the ball n chain ??
Matty did the hot water bottle and toddie cure the man flu ?
Anyone else riding a Monster (Teff  ;) ) is welcome.

UPDATE
Meeting Berowra Mobile servo at  11.30 to 12.00 am
any interested riders post up their intensions.

But that goes out the window cos i have a lovely "diversion" just after Berowra.........it goes past my mates place who cuts my hair but I promise not to stop..........takes us down a nice scenic way to Wisemans.........Halcrows Rd, then onto Wisemans Ferry rd...............it breaks up the monotonous ride down to Wisemans,............."trust me"     my stamping ground..... [thumbsup]

20 degrees + for a few days now & more of the same for tomorrow!!!

Nice and early run up the Old Rd is in order I think  [thumbsup]

If anyone's game, I'll be running north past Berowra around 7.30'ish............

Famous bloody last words!!

I left early, as planned & didn't Sydney just have its heaviest fog since Noah sailed his boat.........?

North Syd & I couldn't even see the building next to us - "She'll be right", I thought, "it'll lift as soon as I clear the lower North Shore".
Pacific Hwy, Pymble; "hmm, she's still a little thick......"
Hornsby, start of the F3; "Should I, shouldn't I......? It'll be thinner for sure a little further north, I'll keep going".
By the way, I was soaked from the bloody fog, who would have thought it was so wet................?

Berowra; "This is shit. I can't see further than 40 meter's in front of me. I'm cold. I'm wet. My wife's back in bed - what the hell was I thinking.......?"

I finally gave up, turned around and went home.

Back in bed by just after 8am.

I'm really glad someone had a great time later in the day 'cause I sure as heck experienced the biggest let down of the week.
Oh well, at least I'm off to Fiji on Tuesday !!!!!!

Little did we know the sleeping fault on his bike and what was lurking around a few more bends.
I am sure someone has the gruesome photos.
Spoke to him this morning still very sore and sorry but at least comforted by
the knowledge it wasn't his fault due to a major mechanical failure on his bike [bang] .
Get well soon mate  :-*  [thumbsup]

Yeah get well soon mate. Hope that ankle and shoulder are both feeling better quick smart.

Hope you take it right to MV as well.. with almost 29 pages of posts about the problem (http://www.mvagusta.net/forum/showthread.php?t=38009), I can't believe they haven't issued a recall for an OBVIOUSLY known issue.

Can't believe just how lucky you are that the issue showed up THERE and not along any of the other sections of FAR quicker cornering. Buy a lottery ticket mate.

To save the man himself from explaining too much.. It was low speed low side. Bike was being nursed around a gravel filled corner when it dropped.. At the time we all thought that it was caused by the gravel, but it looks like it was the hub issue as documented above.
Bike dropped on the right hand side on to bitumen... Brian got pinned under and was scraped along the road a bit before stopping just shy of the armco (slowed down by very damp mud, etc).

Brian's ankle and shoulder took the majority of the force but after a break and some lifesaving Panadol and Butter Menthols, he managed to continue on and finish off the ride (though obviously in pain and carrying a bruised ego).
Mainly fairing damage to the bike... didn't appear to be anything bent or broken.

The troublesome corner.

What time was that Rob?
I didn't see it, I was up and down the Old Road day due to a visit to the Central Coast.
Didn't see anyone  [leo] there, did see a green fully marked car sitting just as the Old Road joins back to freeway off ramp at Berowra.

Shame I couldn't catch up with you all while you were out.
Did have a great run with a bloke in his old dac dac up the hill from Brooklyn Bridge to the PITS.
Such a fun run, though we would have both been handing in our licences if the  [leo] were around. I got a little carried away on my pat-malone.

Happy good things as we have just exchanged on a new townhouse yesterday with a "man space" that will rival many!

It will look better from behind after today, just got my carbon slip-ons installed, also sounds bloody awesome with silencers out. May not leave them out all the time though, not to keen on unwanted attention [leo].

Also installed 14T sprocket, this seems to make the bike more manageable without shortening the gearing to much.

how do you guys go with slow riders?

They put up with me just fine ... don't you worry.

We try not to harrass or push ... just ride your own pace. People are generally willing to talk technique too if you want (may not be right, but we'll talk about it [laugh])

EDIT: I probably should add that these 'coffee runs' are generally pretty casual and are normally in the well supervised areas [leo] ... so things are pretty restrained ... generally.

I was up early on Sunday and went for a quick solo tour of the park. It was full of fog and cyclist but not a dot of traffic.
I didn't have to overtake a single car in either direction.
And not a single car with coloured lights and hair dryers....

Wonder why the Old Road is getting hammered?

Can't say I'd like to have them in the park, they'd do much better being out on the freeways catching regular drivers.

Went for a ride thru the RNP today. As I entered the park I saw an RBT setup just before the tollbooth. My heart sank, for a crazy moment I thought of chucking a uturn but decided to accept my fate, for sure they would get me for noisy exhaust an pods. They walked out onto the road, signalled in the two cars in front of me . . . and then, WAVED ME BY ? ? ?  Yoo hoo I thought, that was lucky.
Took it as a good omen, so carried on thru to Mac Pass and back. Great day, heaps of dukes  out and about.

I am going to head up the old road to Calga for my first decent squirt in a little while tomorrow morning...

So on Saturday I did 2 laps of "Berowra - Calga", and back home by 11am.

Almost no motorbikes out despite the glorious weather and PITS had more bicycles than motorbikes when I stopped for a cup of tea.

I did not see any Police taking photo's, but there was some guy from bikephotos.com.au (near RW) which put me off a bit.

In hindsight, I should have kicked onto Kulnurra for the coffee!

Title: Re: Weekend Coffee Rides
Post by: dan_t on February 26, 2012, 01:37:30 AM
Kulnura was great, coffee was acceptable but the pea-soup thick fog was crap!
I left early, passed through Berowra around 7:20am so that may have been the issue.....

Title: Re: Weekend Coffee Rides
Post by: Betty on February 26, 2012, 11:12:22 AM
Yeah, we popped into PITS on Saturday as well ... around lunchtime. We were there for about 1.5 hours and there was hardly any bikes. In fact when we left I did a count ... there was 9. There was actually more cars than bikes!

Considering the weather and the closure at Mount White ... I think it is fair to say, an impact has been made.

No, no you don't understand ... that is why he installed the bafflers - to confuse the buggers.

You will end up taking the knees out of those jeans........... [thumbsup]

Don't knock the jeans they do a commendable job of hiding the fact that half of his trellis is missing.

Well there is morning and there is morning. What time and where were you thinking?

Ahhh, it appears that you've heard I like early runs.....

Normally, I'd head north leaving North Syd area around 7am. I know that's not to everyone's taste.

I was thinking of heading north up the old road, then out to Wolombi through Kulnura for a fuel stop. If no-one is out and about, I'll leave early to avoid the masses and the  [leo]

If I have company, I'm happy to delay somewhat, but definitely gone by 9.

That was the plan unless of course there's a better suggestion......

Sorry mate, a bit too early for the Boss ... enjoy your ride.

We could probably only afford a shorter ride in any case.

1.5-2 hours from the City? Which City?

That doesn't sound like the irresponsible over-taker I've been reading about. Seeya there around 11:30-12:00 ish then.

It turned out to be a rather enjoyable day ......Coffee at PITS then on to the slab then to Mark and Julies
for delicious bacon and egg rolls cooked on the BBQ beside the SHRINE shed

Hambo Luba and Paloma and Luke on his hansom EVO also enjoyed the day.

Thanks Paul
what a pleasant morning up ye old road even be it for how cold it was (take note Mark n Julie as you wipe off the sweat and Iti booze dribble from ya chin)
bit quiet early then they all came out of the woodwork.

It was worth going up just to see Rob and Teff make up with a big old man hug in the winter sunshine. [puke] Always an awkward moment watching to grown men getting there Sunday morning beard stubble locked together like Velcro. [laugh]

Bit of carnage at warriors (now re opened) with a squid showing off on exit on one wheel
ending in a high side and the contents of his sump all over the road.
That will be something to watch out for after next rain  [puke]

Yes, you get that impression from his accounts of his win at Imola, also that he's got a good sense of humour. After the race Ducati gave him the bike to keep and he's lent it back to the Ducati Museum, so you guy's would have seen it ?
Sounds like your having a great time  [thumbsup], I am a little bit jealous.

anyone like to grab coffee in the eastern suburbs?  I like to sneak out in the morning while the family is still sleeping in.  Don't need to do a big ride, I'll probably just tool around the coast and then settle into several coffees full of intense spiritual and intellectual exploration, and then, I dunno, look for some place to pee it all back out.  happy to meet up somewhere convenient, especially if that means "convenient to me".

Nah, yesterday it was a light green metallic commodore he was having a chat to a bloke on an RC8 up near the Reptile Park. Their presence is having an impact on the number of people on the Old Road at the moment ... PITS and Warriors should be serving them with a 'restraint of trade' complaint.

The other popular ride close to Sydney is south thru the Royal National Park. Head down the Princes Hwy and turn into Farnell Ave, Loftus. Pass the tollbooth, bikes don't seem to need to pay. Head down to Bald Hill Lookout at Stanwell Tops. You can get there and back in a morning easily or continue south to Macquarie Pass to the Pie Shop at Robertson and make a day of it. Still a [leo] presence but not so heavy as they are up the Old Pacific Hwy.   [thumbsup]

The mooney creek bridge is a good spot to park on the north side, and aim, the hair dryer across.and catch the unwary.

Just tried to send you a PM with a few rides and road to head out too but the computer machine says no.

Got a call from Paul late Friday suggesting that a ride on Saturday would be nice, so we decided to do the Putty loop.
Agreed time was an 8.30 start,........that is, until i received a txt stating that his head has seen better mornings and was it possible to make it 9.30......... due to an over indulgence of an amber fluid
"Not a problem mate, see you then "    so off we go. First fuel stop is at Colo Heights......  there he questions me as to how long it will take. I tell him then ask him is there a problem.....  "Yes mate, I have our dog Ferris booked in at 12 with the groomers for a wash and wax/cut, can we shorten the journey a little  ? "     [roll]

Not even a pure bred either
(http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/ac55/braando54/002-36.jpg)

I just hope that he isn't booked in next Sunday for his nails Paul     [bang]

The moral of the story is, if you are ever going out on a ride with a mate, always check to see if he has the dog boooked in for grooming ....    [roll]

Mainly my fault to be honest, we were just really wanting to do a short morning ride but steering clear of the old road for a change. You forget how long it takes just to get to the start of Putty, i'd say that its a 7am start to do it comfortably.

p.s.  Felix & Oscar have an appointment for the doggy parlour this week.

Seems as the  [leo]  [leo] [leo] [leo] saturation has finally made quite a dent on the number of riders going up the Old Pacific Hwy
Sunday morning was virtually empty , must be making a dent on the $ earn for the cafe's  [coffee] [thumbsdown]

Possibly similar in the Sth.
Did about 5-6 laps of the Park this morning from 7am to around 9am.
There was one  [leo] in the same place, I only passed him once.
Unfortunately there was lots of "I own the road" cyclists that I had to battle with on a few corners. I generally have no problem with cyclists but when they are riding 2 a breast on blind corners you gotta wonder if they are just trying to die.

That aside it was a great power wheelie morning, not that I ever do that.

OK so I know I am a couple of weeks late ... but yes, so early (leaving home around 9) it was cold and there was a lot of fog on the Old Road which didn't help with visibility.

Met with Andy, then Brian & Darren about an hour late.

In the interests of safety (the Boss unable to feel her extremities) we didn't join Andy on his little jaunt - which apparently went well.

Title: Re: Weekend Coffee Rides
Post by: Betty on August 07, 2013, 06:50:45 AM
Don't know if this is the right thread or not ... but we took the scooter down to Road Warriors on the weekend and noted a 'Notice' in the window regarding police entrapment.

I can't remember the exact date, but it was only a couple of weeks ago. Apparently an un-marked car (soft-roader) ... would wait by the side of the road and then pull out in front of bikes. If the bikes did not immediately pass the vehicle it would purposely slow down below the speed limit encouraging an overtake - both instances likely to be over double lines.

The illegal overtake was then filmed and radioed through to a marked car further along the road.

The notice was asking those effected to contact an email address to consider options/action against the unconscionable and unsafe behaviour.

Mods: feel free to move or remove as you see fit ... but I believe this is a valid safety / awareness issue.

You wonder how they really think that behaviour like that can be considered reasonable.
If you were a car driver you'd either be hitting them with headlights or something similar to notify the driver that their actions are dangerous.

Lovely tactic  [roll] [roll] [roll] [roll] [roll]

There was a lot more faith required on the way home ... and that poor little thing was happiest waaay up in the rev range - but she was quite parched at the end of the day.

As for suspension - do springs constitute suspension?

Great news !!
Sir RobS is finally dusting off the cobwebs and planning a weekend ride.
I might say it is quite adventurous for someone who owns a concourse winning bike
That is quite frankly a garage show piece.
This is the route he has sent me so anyone up for it please PM Rob so we can get an idea of numbers.

Hi All,
I hope you're all well. I haven't been on here in a while. I lost a bit of my riding mojo. I even tried selling my bike. I was looking for some property and the extra dosh would've helped out a lot. Thankfully my price was too high  ;D I've decided to keep my baby.

Anyways I was thinking of checking out the throttle roll event this saturday at Enmore. There's a ride in the morning ending at the show. It's a cafe racer kinda thing but it sounds like a bit of fun. If any of you go I may see you.

I wish I could've ridden that morning but I was booked in with mrs to see her family. I managed to get to T.R for a little bit but the ride would've been something else. Here a few photos for the day.

Anybody interested and available for a catch up?

So with the warmer weather this morning and a forecast of rain later we took the opportunity to head out for a ride.

Actually not as many bikes out as we anticipated ... but there were a few  [leo]  ... a couple of older blokes were seen having a chat to aforementioned establishment officials - no doubt they were interested in the 1098R and Pani S - I am sure nothing untoward had been going on.

Anyway they seem to have stopped roadworks on the Old Road for the moment (they hadn't finished last week when we cruised the Old Road in the mighty FIAT. Some of the works are a bit bizarre ... more guard rails (double height), some shoulder work (that seems smoother than the road surface) and some work in a couple of corners.

The smooth shoulders are already full of debris, there is still some road grit scattered on the roadway although (mostly) not on the riding line) and we finally got to test the first corner after Mooney Mooney Creek which has been resurfaced. This section has been damp whenever we have passed through recently ... but not today (and most of the 'green stuff' was off the road too). The problem is (heading north) as the radius decreases the smooth new bitumen ends and you hit the coarse stuff again ... not exactly ideal.

Anyway ... if anybody is venturing out take care - there is still a couple of abandoned cars on the side of the road that have been there for a long time.

Betty, with such debris on the roads, are you guys allowed to notify RTA (Vic Roads here) so they can do some cleaning?

I guess the more pertinent question is, if you were allowed to, and if you did, would they actually do anything?
