Title: Competition Werkes...fender eliminator Post by: IZ on February 18, 2011, 09:33:55 PM total POS!!
Wasted a few hours trying to figure it out last night. Spent a few more tonight working on it with my dad..who is like friggen McGyver..and still couldn't get it pieced together without having to cut and/or modify. I would not recommend this kit. It was a complete waste of time and money!! I wish I had found the reviews prior to the purchase since everyone else had similar difficulties that we had. Title: Re: Competition Werkes...fender eliminator Post by: thought on February 18, 2011, 09:38:20 PM try out the evotech... it's a pretty solid piece and there are a good amount of installation guides already.

I'm not sure which one they suggested but I'll look into the EWvotech too. Thanks T! I recommend anything BUT the CW kit.Title: Re: Competition Werkes...fender eliminator Post by: dgm on February 19, 2011, 05:41:32 AM hmm.. I have the comp werks kit and had no trouble with the install or complaints at all really.
Title: Re: Competition Werkes...fender eliminator Post by: Raux on February 19, 2011, 06:24:41 AM hmm.. I have the comp werks kit and had no trouble with the install or complaints at all really. it wasn't the install, it was the quality, the sharp edges, the general build. I have the R&G now and it's exceptional compared to the CW and I've heard the Evotech is even better. Title: Re: Competition Werkes...fender eliminator Post by: thought on February 19, 2011, 07:00:16 AM here is a great guide on installing the evotech... you can see the quality of the item:

Title: Re: Competition Werkes...fender eliminator Post by: booger on February 19, 2011, 12:42:46 PM I have read that the CW kit for the new Monsters wasn't very good. However I have the kit for the older Monsters on my bike and it's fantastic. It's a burly piece made out of what looks like lasercut SS and it does have some sharp edges. I just smoothed them out with a file, had it beadblasted then powdercoated black. It now looks like a factory piece and has no sharp edges.
Don't understand how the kit for the older bikes can be the one everyone recommends, yet the kit for the new bikes is the one everyone recommends staying away from. As a rule you should go with whatever is most recommended in the end. Title: Re: Competition Werkes...fender eliminator Post by: xplodee on February 19, 2011, 12:49:09 PM I have the evotech kit on my 1100 along with an eBay LED tail light integrator ($60). One word, awesome.

Wish I had seen the reviews earlier but I don't frequent TOB. I am looking at the Evotech now. [thumbsup] As for those who installed the CW on your new Monsters, were any of them the '10 1100? There shouldn't be any differences. On mine..the holes would have had to be drilled bigger while shaving off an edge on one piece to make it fit right. Then, the left side stuckout further than the right when it was all together. What a mess. [thumbsdown] Title: Re: Competition Werkes...fender eliminator Post by: DucatiTorrey on February 19, 2011, 05:28:35 PM total POS!! Wasted a few hours trying to figure it out last night. WTF? Kettle..meet black. I believe you're an idiot. Didn't I just explain the problems I had a few posts up? Title: Re: Competition Werkes...fender eliminator Post by: booger on February 19, 2011, 08:49:04 PM Why not post some photos? It would help those of us trying to visualize the problems you are having/had.

It would help those of us trying to visualize the problems you are having/had. Thanks B. It's already boxed up and ready to be returned though. Like I said, I tried the first night and then had my dad to help the next night. Again..it wasn't going to fit right without having to drill the holes larger. Shaving down the part that connected directly to the brakelight would've also had to have been done. Once we had it all together, it stuck out on one side. Title: Re: Competition Werkes...fender eliminator Post by: Raux on February 20, 2011, 02:22:10 AM WOAHHH
I'm not sure, but I think Torrey was kidding. IZ, I think you were too. I just want to be sure, before this gets to a flame war. IMO the CW kit is the idiot here. the quality of the build could easily lead to one kit being simple to put on and the next being impossible. Title: Re: Competition Werkes...fender eliminator Post by: booger on February 20, 2011, 03:04:12 PM I hope somebody contacted CW and told them how bad their experience with their product was. I suspect that some kits fit and others don't. Could be manufacturing inconsistencies at play here. The kit I bought for my bike fit like it was made by Ducati.

Definitely not an isolated incident as I had the same problem with my CW Kit. I had to drill the holes out to be much longer... could have probably drilled new, separate, holes if I had know they were that far off from the start. Title: Re: Competition Werkes...fender eliminator Post by: OBNOXS on February 25, 2011, 06:14:09 PM 09 1100
Title: Re: Competition Werkes...fender eliminator Post by: Punx Clever on February 25, 2011, 08:33:11 PM Is this a problem with new monsters only, or all monsters? I have a CW fender eliminator on my S2r and it fit beautifully, much nicer than the cobbled together temporary solution I built out of old racecar parts, and they were the bee's knees from what I could tell of other people's opinions.

Someone mentioned the same thing earlier. They fit the older Monsters good. I'm suspecting maybe it's a problem with the 1100's now after OBNOXS mentioned he had an 1100 also. Title: Re: Competition Werkes...fender eliminator Post by: K-Style on March 10, 2011, 01:32:39 PM Gosh darn it. I wish I had read this thread earlier. I agree a POS. Very dissappointed when I opened the box.
Title: Re: Competition Werkes...fender eliminator Post by: rlgMcoupe on March 10, 2011, 07:18:25 PM Installed the cw kit a little over a year ago on an 09. No problems at all. I think it's great.
Title: Re: Competition Werkes...fender eliminator Post by: r_ciao on March 11, 2011, 04:44:17 PM there's much good info here. search for it and heed it. i did and love my evotech. i cannot imagine a better build quality.
Title: Re: Competition Werkes...fender eliminator Post by: Enzoman on March 12, 2011, 06:16:22 AM I have the evotech on my M1100 and it's awsome. The quality and construction is great and it was real easy to install, no drilling or anything and it puts the seat lock in a better spot than where the factory put it in my opinion.
Title: Re: Competition Werkes...fender eliminator Post by: IZ on March 24, 2011, 08:27:58 PM I've been checking into that one. Ordering new one this weekend. Thanks.
Title: Re: Competition Werkes...fender eliminator Post by: K-Style on March 24, 2011, 08:53:56 PM Me too. My Evotech arrives next week. I dont think anyone in Oz stocks them so I had to order international. Ordered a few other tidy up parts at the same time. Any sucker...anybody on here want to buy my CompWerkes tail tidy? It's not that bad, Im just not keen on cutting fingers off installing it or worse in a crash.

Yes, those do work well.
