Title: Another Battery Question: Metal Jacket
Post by: erkishhorde on February 22, 2011, 12:33:23 PM
How important is this? I'm finally getting around to getting the battery that I was researching a few months ago and when I called the shop they told me that the metal jacket helps the battery withstand heat and vibrations. I imagine the battery sees a fair amount of heat and vibration where it sits so this seems like a good idea but is it really important? I guess for a $20 difference in price (about 15% increase) it's not that much for the added safety but when you have to dig in the couch to find enough coin it makes me stop to think about it. The specific batteries I'm comparing are the Odyssey PC680 and the PC680MJ.

Thoughts?

Never heard of it.  Been using small 7 series Yuasa for years without a problem.   ???

Metal jacket?  I see no good from that.  I looked at my records the other day.  My battery is now 6 years old and still going.

Never heard of such a thing either. And if you have the money, I suggest you go for a Yuasa. For your '95 M900 the YuMicron YB16AL-A2 is the one [thumbsup]

Cheers!

Eh, that's the same wet cell battery I have now. I wanna try out a sealed battery this time. Thank you, though.  ;)
