Hi All,I have a 1998 M750 with gearbox issues, although i have the engine out and the tops off i have not split the casings yet, doe's this gearbox share its internals with any other model, Also what other engine will slot straight in to my frame, may be quicker option. Anyone got a good bottom end ?? Any info gratefully received :)
Would a 1994 750ss slot straight in ?
Probably. With a few exceptions, most of the 2 valve motors are pop-n-swap. But if you're going to the trouble of swapping one out, why not upgrade to something bigger while you're doing it?
Not sure about your gearbox issues, but if you do a search I'm sure you'll find tons of good info about motor swaps.

That motor has the clutch slave built in to the r/h cover.
Parts availability might become an issue.
So that would be one of the old panta engines?

I understand.
This is the problem i,m having,When you go to select a gear, say 1st or 2nd, theres alot of grinding, once in a gear theres a real bad clunking grinding noise from the box, i have checked the clutch and this was working ok, had the clutch cover off and checked nothing wrong in there, there was one other thing i noticed the neutral light did not work, joined the wires together light come on, removed and checked the switch worked ok, its as if the switch is not touching the selector barrel, it is the correct switch. This sort of makes me think there may be an issue with the selector barrel perhaps.Waiting for a manual before i split the casings.
According to this, all of the 600 and 750 have the 5-speed trans.

'02 and '03 M620 as well.
I'm pretty sure I've got a few 750 trans packages that I'd let go *really* *really* cheap, give me a shout before you buy....
You could fit a 6-speed from an '04 620 or other later small-case motor.
Or swap in a 900 and call it a day.
all the little 5 speed gears are the same from 750 paso on from memory, altho shafts differ - some may use a differrent sprocket (paso, 750 sport), 750 pre 92 has a dry clutch, that sort of stuff. i know a guy who fitted mid 90's gears to a 620 or 620 gears to a mid 90's 750, something like that. the input shaft differs from 98 on with the lh slave i think as well.
