Hi everyone, big time electrical hassles for me. Couple weeks ago my voltage regulator under my seet began to smoke so I unplugged those wires and drove it anywheys like a dumb head. Next day I was riding and the bike just sputtered to a stop and I thought that I had just ran out of gas. Eventually got a new voltage regulator and had it installed. Bike was running again but then my fuse for my lights kept popping and then one of my battery's connector terminal things melted. Got a new battery and the the bike started but the starter seemed to be struggling to turn the bike over, it goes very slowly and weak and now it wont start the bike at all. When I push the button to engage the starter I have notice that the each time it gives up the temperature on my gauge cluster reads out a different temperature every time I try to start it.
Help! I hope I don't need a new starter because I cant afford to pay 250 bucks :) I can post a video of what it is doing If anyone needs more information.
Year and model would be helpful. Which battery cable end melted? Fuse for which lights? Did the tech who replaced your regulator confirm that the bike was charging after the repair? Anyway, start with checking all connections, particularly ground side.
Its a 2002 monster 620. Fuses are not popping anymore. I returned my new battery for another new one and it is holding charge, the alternator is also working. My friend and I popped the clutch and rode it around for a while, brought it home, stopped the engine to restart it and the bike started although it sounded strange when it started. I let it sit over night and thismorning it wont start. Aaahhhhhhh!!!!!! Help
Are you sure the bike is charging correctly, all connections are good and there are no drains on the battery? A common problem area is the cheesy connector where the stator connects to the regulator.
