Title: Front turn signal options Post by: freeclimbmtb on March 05, 2011, 12:38:39 AM After chopping the tail and installing a smoke integrated tail light I want to do something about the front turn signals that just look out of place with the rears removed.
Any thoughts?? Title: Re: Front turn signal options Post by: Desmo4 on March 05, 2011, 05:07:22 AM I am also looking forward to any opinion or advice on this, as I am in the exact same situation. With an integrated tail light, those front turn signals have to go.
Some pics would be very nice... Any thoughts?? These are small and brighter than LED's imho. Stock holes, well made...... http://www.lockhartphillipsusa.com/store/ (http://www.lockhartphillipsusa.com/store/) (http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/ff406/DucatiRocket/Shield.jpg) Title: Re: Front turn signal options Post by: JEFF_H on March 05, 2011, 07:49:38 AM FYI- those oval signals are sold under several different names (I dont think Lockhart makes parts in-house)
they should be avail at most bike shops for around $15/pair they are a good deal and look like a part that could have come on the bike from the factory. Rizoma signals cost too much...but those are my favorite Title: Re: Front turn signal options Post by: Heath on March 05, 2011, 09:07:46 AM I have DP Performance signals up front. Very very bright but only a good deal if you can buy them used like I did. If I was in the market for signals I would probably go with Oberons.

Any thoughts?? The ones I mentioned above from Lockheart are the good ones, Their are a lot of junk that looks the same IE Ebay. And then their are these extreme little suckers............Not sure if he is making them yet? http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=45113.15 (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=45113.15) Bernard(vizi-tec.com) Title: Re: Front turn signal options Post by: freeclimbmtb on March 05, 2011, 08:59:48 PM I am also looking forward to any opinion or advice on this, as I am in the exact same situation. Picked the bike back up from the dealer yesterday (had some warentee work done) I have the tail all pulled apart to put in the new tail light, I will post pictures when the taill is finished. Love your suggestions - quite expensive but very cool. The Ducati Performance ones are great: (http://www.ducatiperformance.com/images/96625206B.jpg) Also, the bar-end ones from Oberon are outrageously nice (though I quite question their visibility): (http://www.oberon-performance.com/acatalog/Barend_LED_Indicator_Both_1024_Logo.jpg) Title: Re: Front turn signal options Post by: muskrat on March 06, 2011, 07:55:10 AM I have the Oberons and they are easily visible and bright.
Title: Re: Front turn signal options Post by: Heath on March 06, 2011, 09:48:34 AM The thing I like about the Oberons is the window on both sides. I remember one member saying when they signal at night the whole lane next to them lights up. If you put them front and rear even better. Although I do like the look of an integrated tail.

I have snapped off the two I put in the rear several times while doing normal maintenance. Love the look as well but after blowing a bulb got too frustrated trying to change it out. Ended up with these and love the a TON! My bike has been down 3x with those and ive never had to replace them! My bike has been down 3x with those and ive never had to replace them! They are exactly like the ones from Monsterparts.com (had to check with a friend who got them for me). Not sure the maker but they are LED Flexible turn signals. Love em Title: Re: Front turn signal options Post by: dennisd on March 06, 2011, 07:14:14 PM If you are looking for smaller then go for it. However, if you are just trying to trim the lines of the front you could do like I did; I removed the extension from the stem of the oem. Makes quite a difference in the looks and it's free.

I'm concerned because the bike stock lights have a kind of stem, not sure how that "mates" with these. And what about these: I like these a lot, any thought how they would fit? Also, any "extra holes" left visible on the body when changing from stock to these turn signals? http://www.pure-ducati.com/p-176-ducati-monster-led-turn-indicators.aspx (http://www.pure-ducati.com/p-176-ducati-monster-led-turn-indicators.aspx) Also, anyone know if these would require resistors to slow down the blink rate? Looking to change my stock front AND rear signals... (Don't love the stock ones, and all 4 of the plastic lenses on the lights are broken on one side (the plastic tabs are kind of snapped or something, The lights work and the lenses stay on, but they are sort of hanging on by one side only on each light... It's weird. Bought the bike used, almost certainly never dropped...)) Finally, any thoughts on these Rizomas? Again, how do they fit the existing stem, and anyone else think they are TOO angular to go with the lines of this bike? http://www.rizoma.com/Prodotti/zoom.cfm?IMG=http://www.rizoma.com/IMG/Prodotti/Big/FR025A.jpg (http://www.rizoma.com/Prodotti/zoom.cfm?IMG=http://www.rizoma.com/IMG/Prodotti/Big/FR025A.jpg) Thanks in advance for any advice, and sorry for the 20 questions. Title: Re: Front turn signal options Post by: freeclimbmtb on March 08, 2011, 11:39:05 PM Photos of my M696 tail chop project.
First, as she looked unmodified. Now looking back, that stock fender is kind of a travesty. (http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5097/5511045977_3eda1a4fe3.jpg) Next, the Competition Werkes fender eliminator kit installed. Because the kit moved the stock signals down and in closer to the bike, they are pretty much obstructed by the exhaust cans...friends went on to comment that they cant even see when I have them on. (http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5011/5511645296_cc8372cdc1.jpg) Finally, the Light Werkes integrated tail light installed, stock turn signals removed, and license plate relocated. (http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5255/5511034043_0fa52bc84e.jpg) (http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5259/5511033915_7f6fe15621.jpg) The only irreversible modification done here was physically splicing the integrated signal wires into the stock blinker wires. I chose to do this to leave the factory harness intact, rather than splicing new connectors onto the factory harness to fit the tail light. (I should have taken pictures of this step) Everything else can go right back to stock should I ever want to. The stem on your stockers comes off with the light - no interference Your second link shows lights that probably use the same holes as the stockers, but they lack the widening stem that will make them clear the front fairing well. Plus they break very easily. I think all LED signals require resistors, at least if you change all four. Braking tabs is common. New lenses aren't that expensive. The look of Rizoma lights is a matter of taste. Me, I'm kind of with you about the angular issues...
