Title: Radial Masters for a S2R800
Post by: TitanMonsterS4R on March 06, 2011, 10:30:25 AM
Brakes, suspension, rear shock, front forks, taillight, headlight and signals have all been changed from stock and working perfectly.  I'd love to upgrade to radial master cyclinders.  Anyone have a suggestion for a brake/clutch radial cyclinder kit?  Would like something less than $300.00 per.  Even better would be a deal for the combo.

Really like these but this is is after very little research - http://www.motostrano.com/brrcs15macy.html (http://www.motostrano.com/brrcs15macy.html)

Thanks

Look for take-offs from a SBK... I have the masters from a 999r on my s2r1000.  Both sides with aftermarket levers was less than 300 easy.  I think somewhere in the 200 range actually.  Plus, the reservoirs look sweet and low profile.

Think this is the best buy
Had them all (brembo magura, etc)

probably better deals out there but thats ~$300 for the PAIR, plenty of cash left over for a set of levers and maybe some reservoirs. ;)

Just so you know, the RCS that you linked to will only do the brake side and not the clutch.  Also, that isn't the best piston size (15)for the set up that you've got on your bike.  You'd want something a bit larger so you'd get both decent modulation and stopping power.

Brembo RCS comes as 19mm brake master as well as a clutch master.

About a hundred $ less gets you a standard radial Brembo 19mm, but the RCS has the lever ratio adjustment and a brake light switch.

The RCSs actually comes in multiple piston sizes and are tailor made to specific applications.

I have a 999 radial brake master on my bike with the big brakes.
I don't really ride it that hard so I don't notice much difference. I got both clutch and brake for <$200 off of ducati.ms.
Figure out how you're going to mount your brake lines before proceeding, as they are a pain in the butt. Expect to shell out some more cash for custom brake lines to do the job right.

Will my stock brake lines work or will I need to get new ones with the new radials?

The banjo angles are different at both ends, so that's a no - sorry.

At the master the line(s) connect under and horizontal - banjo angle(s) depend on the chosen routing.
At the caliper they connect on top - meaning a ~90 degree banjo.

Easy fix available for the lines, though:

M1100 oem lines. You can find take offs on eBay. Hypermotard lines would work also but are longer.

You can use the om clutchline , but you must switch it upside down

I may have struck gold and didn't even know it.

SVR sold me some Goodridge lines in January that are a universal mount with NPT ends so I can fit the right banjo on there.  He also threw in some extra banjo fittings with different angles and one brake light switcher banjo.  Here's the link to what I purchased.  Sorry for the noob question, just want to make sure I do it right.

You did strike gold. That will make running the hydraulic lines much easier.
I would post pictures of my set up but I am embarrassed to show how ghetto it is. Good luck and post pictures when you're done.
