Title: "Ducati’s Deal with the Devil: A Business Case for the Diavel"
Post by: Goat_Herder on March 10, 2011, 09:47:20 AM
Found a great article by Asphalt & Rubber.  Thought it deserves its own thread, instead of pasting it to other Diavel related threads.  Comparing Ducati to Porsche in how the 2 companies have expanded their product lines was spot on.

A&R is a great blog. I used to read some other one but then they went to pay-for-view which just wasn't worth it considering their content and writing sucked anyway.

yeah, "hell for leather." terrible blog. I didn't like the tone that the authors wrote with, super egotistical and obnoxious. Then the whole switch to membership was just dumb. I  bet they're doing real well now ;)

I was reading some posts by readers of motorcyclenews.com about the Diavel.
One spoke of how the passenger area is small, the pegs don't lock down and the handle in the rear causes issues.

So it seems the only true 2 seater Ducati has is the MTS. Somehow I thought the Diavel would be another.

This reminds me of an exchange I had with a friend who was looking at a V-Max.

Me: "The passenger seat on that thing is really small."
Him: "Yeah, but who wants to give rides to fat chicks?"

Cue salesman stifling laughter, and saleslady looking less than amused. [laugh]

As I mentioned in another post, I see the Diavel as Ducati's Cayenne...the vehicle that, if successful, could provide Ducati with the financial resources to develop more models.  I wish them the very best!
