So...
Christchurch earthquake, two times over really, September 2010 and again in February 2011, crater collapse in Hawaii just a week or so ago, and then the huge Japan earthquake. Seems the tectonic places along the ring of fire are doing a bit more moving than usual.
My rum-freed thoughts:
Global warming. So what are the global rises in sea level? Are is the small amount enough to cause a considerable change in pressure on the already active tectonic plates in the ring of fire to cause these recent events?
Discuss. I would love to see what people think. It's ok if you think I'm off my rocker and crazy.
JM
Neh. Even a couple meters of pressure head increase is nothing compared to the ridiculously high pressures taking place in tectonic activity.
Something I read recently is that British and Russian Scientists had been looking at the positions of Jupiter and Saturn in relation to the Sun and the Earth and predicted high earthquake activity through the 20th of March due to tidal forces the gas giants put on the sun.

When my grandmother tells me I need to find a nice christian girl and settle down, is that the kinda girl she means?
Cause I'm thinking this is a much better option:

Every single time I see your avatar I am reminded of my ability to sense humor.
Whether it's oncoming predictions of end of the world scenarios or natural occurrences that will come and go, we are all just along for the ride. Just raise your arms on the downhill parts and try to find something to appreciate about the view. I just concentrate on the small things I do have the ability to change and if a major catastrophe hits my life that was unforeseen and unstoppable anyway, I'll deal with it when it comes.

+1
And a big +1 to Rat's lengthy post above.

Stating that the problems of man relate to the three things is different from discussing them...or ranting how one political/religious figure is the cause.
BTW...you are right on the money.

There's an old saying
Religion works for folks who don't want to go to hell
Spirituality works for folks who have already been to hell
and have no desire to go back ;)
never heard that one.
Me neither. Good one.
Noone gets out alive.
Both the videos posted only yesterday have been removed from YouTube. Mysterious. RAT900, you are spot on about everything in your post except for the 3 evils. IMHO, there is only one evil plaguing mankind. Stupidity.

but at least stupidity gets very predictable the longer you stare at it, the only thing it's really unpredictable with is its timing

"One for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, now go cat go" You have to think hard to get it!
Since moving to Texas I have seen stupidity in more forms than I ever imagined. Who knew that there were so many stupid things one could think, say, or do!
Back to the original topic. I do recall a presentation in a scientific context on if sea-level rise and climate change can be related to increase plate movement. I'm having a stupid moment myself, because I can't remember what the answer was. :-\
Just remember, there is no cure for stupid :'(
There's no way climate change (i..e global warming) would have an impact. The tectonic plates move due to convection in the earth's mantle. It is generally agreed that the earth's core is slowly cooling, with the mantle temp. ranging from 900*F to >7,000*F. There is no way that a few degree rise (or cooling) in the average atmospheric temperature (57*F to 59*F) could have any effect on the earth's mantle temperature. It would be like saying your 500*F oven can tell the difference between whether you keep your house at 68*F or 70*F.
Regarding water pressure...the average depth of the oceans is 12,430ft. This equates to an average pressure on the crust from the oceans of 794,277 lb/sf (density of seawater = 63.9 lb/cf). A 5-ft rise in seal level (which is much more than predicted) would equate to an extra 320 lb/sf of force on the crust. This is about a 0.04% increase...which is negligible.
Climate change can only effect surficial things (i.e. weather, vegetation, etc)...not plate tectonics.
