Title: Removing baffles in Boom Tubes? Post by: mickb on March 19, 2011, 05:43:42 AM I'm trying to remove them, with the intention of putting another set in, but I can't see how to get them out? There's no lip as per termi baffles to grip, and as the pipe has a 90 degree bend, you can't push out from the back.
I'm waiting for Mark to respond, but just wondered if anyone had done this? thanks. Title: Re: Removing baffles in Boom Tubes? Post by: ungeheuer on March 19, 2011, 06:03:04 AM Are they held in place with a circlip?
Title: Re: Removing baffles in Boom Tubes? Post by: mickb on March 19, 2011, 06:12:19 AM Hi Unge,
No, they were rivetted to the outer pipe, and I've drilled these out. I'm guessing its because they're a tight fit, and there's nothing to be able to grip to either push or pull. Title: Re: Removing baffles in Boom Tubes? Post by: ungeheuer on March 19, 2011, 06:17:04 AM Hmm... dunno...

Title: Re: Removing baffles in Boom Tubes? Post by: Buckethead on March 24, 2011, 01:48:53 PM Just from looking at mine, I'd wager they're held in by the same rivet that holds the tips on.

Title: Re: Removing baffles in Boom Tubes? Post by: mickb on March 25, 2011, 06:25:39 AM I've drilled out both rivets, there's nothing holding it in there now apart from friction!
I've been able to finally remove one of the baffles, using a slide hammer, the other is refusing to budge. Mark has suggested using a hacksaw blade to cut through the baffle, but as its T304 steel, this won't be easy. I'm going to try taking to a garage /mechanic with the hope that using heat from a welding torch expands the outer pipe enough to pull the baffle.... Title: Re: Removing baffles in Boom Tubes?
