Title: S2R pelican case with pictures Post by: askene on March 19, 2011, 05:53:33 AM I commute with my bike and wanted a better way to tote my laptop around then strapping it on my back or the seat.
After a lot of searching I found that no one makes a decent hard case for the S2R/S4R, especially not one that will take a 17" laptop. So that just leaves me with building my own! The mount is made from 1/4" aluminum strips and a spare rear foot peg I picked up from someone on here. I'll be doing something similar soon with my old BMW bags. I sold the original mounts (Doh!) so it looks like I"ll just have to build my own :). Also looked into that mounting system, nice to see it works as well as it looked like it would work.

I'm almost sure the bolts and/or plastic will fail. I recommend bolting it with it's own bolt in a freshly drilled hole to the side of where it is now. Yeah, they're not quite as sturdy as I'd like. I'm not crazy about press fitted bolts into plastic. I figure once I decide what to replace the beer tray and marker lights with I'll put some bigger bolts through those mounting holes. |
