Title: 696/1100 header material?
Post by: loopsrider on March 20, 2011, 12:00:54 PM
Anyone know what kind of metal the 696/1100 headers are made of??

Stainless? mild steel? Ti?

Stock Duc headers are typically stainless.

Mild would rust so fast it's not funny. And Ti is way to costly for a production bike of that price range.

Stainless.

My midpipe is TI and looks much different than the header pipes.

I dunno... Some MX bikes in the 8-10K range have Ti systems now-a-days. My KTM MX bike has a full Ti header from the factory. Albeit only 2/3rd the amount of material compared to a monster.

Thanks for the confirmation it's stainless guys....

Kawak and a few Japanese mfg's also use a lot of ti in their sport bike exhaust systems, but I've never seen ti in an oem euro-bike exhaust (street bikes that is).

As best I can remember all the ducati's I've messed with have had stainless steel exhaust headers as standard.

My CRF450R has full ti exhaust as standard too [evil]
