Just Picked this up from Lowes and for an "entry level" grill, it's pretty badass

Can't see the pic on the BB but making me miss my grill. :(
[thumbsup]
I'm in the market for a new gas grill. I've had my eye on a Weber, but they're so damned expensive.
Nice! [thumbsup] [bacon]
I think your dog has laid claim to it!!
I know you called it an "Entry Level" grill (which I think it hardly appears to be), but I was able to find that the "Jedi Master Grill" is this one:

I can't wait for that delicious Jedi Bacon!
I wish I used our grill more often. I've gotten pretty good at grilling salmon on cedar planks (turns out awesome), but beyond that, I haven't been too adventurous.
Have fun with it and don't blow your house up like the guy in Phx did last week!! (your wife would be really angry if you did that!!!)
salmon on cedar planks? is that on charcoal or gas grill? That sounds delicious - we love salmon (especially the filets from Sunflower)
Wanna share the secret?
Sure!
We learned that you if you use cedar planks (purchased from Costco or perhaps Fry's as a 3 or 6 pack of planks) that you can make very savory salmon on the grill.
The key is to soak the planks (submerged) for 4 hours (NO LESS) prior to grilling otherwise they'll catch fire! Because of their length, I actually have to soak them in the bath tub (cleaned first of course!) under a big pots filled with water to hold them down.
Then, slap some salmon on them, some veggies, and seasonings (sliced lemons and fresh cut rosemary are awesome) and lay the full planks on the grill. Check on it periodically, mist the edges with water if the planks start to burn (but they are not reusable).
I always err on the side of safety with fish and cook it a bit longer - but it always turns out great!
Serve with a bed of wild rice and you're golden! [thumbsup]
...k, now I'm hungry...

We've gone through a couple of gas grills, and finally bit the bullet and bought a Weber. Absolutely love it, and highly recommended [thumbsup]
Another salmon recipe on the plank to try
salt/peper-butter-brown sugar-fresh dill
yummy
i love my (newly modded) char-griller, but also want to add a gas for a quick grill
havent decided on another weber (last one only lasted 15 years)
or a small Cuisinart that i can also use camping.
the kitchenaid looks very nice...but i will want something smaller for my backup grill ;)
Re: the salmon
I love salmon on cedar planks too. I'll pick up some thin, skin on, filets, lay them skin side down, a light olive oil rub with salt & pepper, rosemary, & sliced lemons (thai peppers for a lil kick). I'll make it when I go camping all the time. And, just use the cedar planks as plates. Goes great with some grilled asparagus.

Personally I'd rather take the cover off of the charcoal weber in the corner there but the convenience of the gas grill is great. Now you got me thinking about grillin!
we've got a weber onetouch and love it, but the wife was worried about carcinogens, so I used it as an excuse for an awesome new grill....though I do love the charcoal flavor!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: "In the end, no one gets out alive".
That being said, if avoiding checking out early means you get new toys - then by all means!!

internal lights for night grilling...
That sounds like an amazing feature. Never seen it before but I bet it will come in handy.
I just did THIS:
on an entry level grill. Good enough for one person for a week!
That's how I roll on my charcoal grill as well. If I'm going to bother starting it, I'm cooking food for a few days. I can highly suggest one of these:

Works great for veg or shrimp - stuff you can skewer but may be too lazy to.
I uncovered my grill last week! First steak of the season tasted great!

I've had the weber Genesis E310 for about 18 months now and it is the best bbq I've ever had. (and I've had a few).
I've used it for everything from roasting lamb to smoking bacon. [bacon] Certainly worth the extra dollars.

That's the very Weber I'm thinking of buying, good to know. [thumbsup]
However, it's a
grill. Grilling and BBQing are two distinctly different things. [cheeky]

Not in Orstralia it isn't, BBQing usually means anything cooked on a grill, plate or old matress springs outdoors.
You may remember "chuck another shrimp on the barbie" from a few years back, (by the way we don't do "shrimp" here anyhow , we do prawns, but I digress)
Grilling here usually means placed under a flame or electric element in a self contained unit or one that's part of a kitchen stove/range.
Here endeth the cultural lesson. ;-)
If Lowe's assembled the grill double check it. The assemblers at my local Lowe's used to cut corners all the time and not really look at the directions.

Thanks for the heads up, but I work at the Lowes that I bought it from and our installer is a super old guy who has nothing to do but build grills all day and he's super anal about it. He even makes sure the ones that get nicks and dings in them have the panels replaced, so I had a tough time finding this grill in the "scratch and dent" section
ahh ok. I used to work at this one and the two guys in their early twenty's were just building them as fast as possible to not get in trouble. I see all stores are not the same.

I fully endorse this statement.
My BBQ has no hood, just a piece of steel over 4 gas burners. I hardly ever give it a good clean, just fire it up and give it a quick wipe down. Rust gives meat an extra bite.

BBQ is low and slow
....and more often than not involves a bunch of hardwood smoke. For hours.

+1
You can leave it uncovered outside and you still wont have to buy a new one every two years like the cheap ones.
My friend's neighbor thew one out, he grabbed it, called Weber and pretty much a week later had most of the parts replaced under warranty, a little cleaning and now has a brand new grill.
These guys are semi-local to me: http://www.starlandmetals.com/grills.html (http://www.starlandmetals.com/grills.html)
A friend of mine (who had some input on the design) has one of the small ones. They are built to last forever (heavy gauge stainless, quality components throughout). His has sat outside uncovered for the better part of a decade and still looks new, works great, makes a great steak.
I'm considering a small one of these versus the Weber Genesis, as I like to support the underdog (and don't really need the outer burner). And I've seen and used one firsthand.
Well if his could withstand almost a decade of abuse and still work like the day it was brought home, I say bite the bullet and invest! From the pictures they look pretty rock solid and I dig the way the knobs are recessed and the wheeled platform is a bit wider (possibly for stability?)
I've got two words for ya - DO IT [evil]
Sturdy they are. [thumbsup]
The casters are industrial grade (I think they're better than what's on my cheap-ass engine stand), as is the rest of the hardware. Hmm, I see they offer free shipping now, which they didn't last fall.
I think my decision has been made.....

I've got the genesis without the outer burner. (E310) The E320 has the burner.
