Was riding this weekend through central MD and caught this charming gentleman hanging out on the side of the road. I'm pretty sure it's Fred Sanford's ghost... or this week's sign of the zombie apocalypse.

What's the oddest thing you've ever seen while riding? Pics or it didn't happen.
I almost ran over a peacock.

A dear that fell from the sky two bikes in front of me
A 49cc ruckus pass a Harley on, you guessed it, Deals Gap.

That's classic!
I don't know exactly what the oddest thing I've seen is. While this isn't it, it nevertheless falls in the "there's sumptin' wrong with that dude" category.

Where do you get tiger-stripe knee sliders? Just paint 'em up yourself?
("Wait, is that really your only problem with that picture?")
ohhh no! one of his cans of beer is empty!
i have seen that bike alot and always hated it, now i have another reason.
The gent who owns that used to hang out on TOB, right?
Where does he keep himself nowadays? Did he go to CDC after the great divide?

No, he can be found on the MOB actually, almost winning AMA races sometimes.
omg, I've never seen that one. I heard about the tiger backpack...not about the beer hat. Dude, what were you thinking? Was this before or after Princeton?
........................
I almost hit a very large turkey last weekend on Skyline. I ducked, he jumped, we missed by a feather. That wasn't this weird though.
I couldn't take a photo 'cause I was going about 50 MPH after turning on this road , when all of a sudden a flock of buzzards come up out of a ditch beside the road , must have been a dead Deer.
Of course one of them has to try and get airborne going in the same direction as I was going so I throttle it thinking it will scare it off my path and damn near collided w. the big son of a pregnant dog w. my Helmet .Not a smart move on my part , but who was wearing the Armor ?
Same sort of thing happened another time only the Buzzard was higher in the air, the damn thing threw up and almost got me.
I had heard if you get to close to them they will try and puke on you from the air.
I could have reached out and got a hold of the one in the 1st instance.

Not really odd, but...

So if we were to be riding safely how would we be taking pictures?
I recommend voodoo. Bring chicken bones on your next ride.
Or a camera mount ;) You know, whichever [laugh]
Don't hate the bike, hate the game.
Yep, I'm around. Not almost winning AMA -- almost winning AFM, but thanks! Yeah, I've been busy racing my 1198 over the past couple years.

You have to make the story bigger in the telling. You did get an invite to race in AMA didn't you?
I did the Formula Xtreme round in 2008 at Infineon.

We went by that make the beast with two backsing dump every year on the way to Myrtle Beach when I was a kid. Only stopped once, and that was more than enough. Biggest advertising let down in the history of the universe.

I remember going to Myrtle Beach to play Golf in the late Winter w. my Brother and 2 other guys.
On the way back home it was at night , and all of a sudden , out in the middle of no where was this grand spectacle of a huge bunch of lights and a carnival like atmosphere.
I though " What the make the beast with two backs is this ? "
Made no sense to me .
We kept on driving and scratching our heads trying to figure out who would have done it and why there ?
Dolph ;D
i saw a guy on a harley today and he was wearing a helmet, didnt get time to take a pic so i have no proof but you have to believe me...

Maybe a jacket for the dog too. They sell all manner of canine clothing, there's gotta be something moto appropriate for the little guy...
Thanks for sharing Jimmy, great pic!
We have a local DMFer (RichD) who has a pooch that rides like that on the tank. He also built a sidecar for his 900SS that Duke (the dog) rides in. It's pretty freaking cool!! [thumbsup] If he reads this he should post some pics! [clap] [popcorn]
Got buzzed by a California Condor on Cerro Noroeste Road back in the early 80s. Pretty spectacular actually, and it almost caused by buddy and I to crash from the surprise!

I can't say I've encountered that one. The next closest comparison I have had is Wall Drug and all it's hype while passing through the mid-west somewhere.
Grew up on the border of SC/NC. Never stopped at this place but I did get this nifty shirt at a thrift store

So the strut holds up the front and there's a wheel at the rear? Or is the front wheel hidden?
I also like the cargo of beer
[beer]
haha, that dog is adorable...
whatever you do, watch your own line. DO NOT watch the dog or get too close because he will slobber all over you. ;D
[laugh]
That's awesome - where's the Youtube video of that??
Rich actually has done that old 2008 pic of the hack even better! It's even painted to match the 900SS and yes Duke has a helmet and goggles. And there is one wheel. It's really a nicely designed unit. No kidding, he could make them commercially and sell them I'm sure. The beer cargo is a natural. Rich works at a brewery! [thumbsup] [beer] [drink]

it's me not being able to type.
I think i was trying to type chilling.
i think i liked my mental image of what cow's chinning a lot more than them just chilling...
haha, sounded like something you would see as a caption in a far side strip...
"as knightofni rounded the corner, he was awed by the majestic sight of the legendary chinning cows of midwest"
now someone ms paint up a far side strip to match the caption.
Our riding group was on a nice spirited ride with my brother in front. We came around a corner where a Hawk (the bird not the bike) was in the middle of the road. The hawk tried to fly off but wasn't quite fast enough. My brother just did duck his head in time for the hawk to bounce off his helmet, laying the bird out cold. My wife and a good friend walked up to the bird thinking it was dead and it woke up and flew off just as they were bending down to check on it, scaring the hell out of them!
If by "oddest" one can mean "totally unexpected" then this applies. Seen from I-20 heading from Shreaveport, LA toward the Texas border.
