Title: Favorite Rides
Post by: The Bacon Junkie on March 22, 2011, 12:37:24 AM
Okay, so we've all got a favorite ride.  Post 'em up here.  [thumbsup]

This way, we can all learn new fun roads, or remind ourselves of roads we haven't been on in awhile...  [moto]

Mine:  THE 33 LOOP

Pretty much the same as Ryan's but with the addition of a leg that takes one further east towards Lake Hughes and the joys of canyon roads north of Santa Clarita.

When I lived in Santa Clarita, I also liked to take the back way up to Wrightwood, then back along ACH, Upper Tujunga down to AFH to Aliso Canyon Road and Acton.

I'm looking forward to riding the 5 County Loop with  the Suzy-Q.

Ya, that extra leg out to SC is a lot of fun.  San Francisquito Canyon in particular.

Google it, map it, and post it for everyone...

I tried doing the "custom link" when you click link but it wouldn't work. Instead go to "Send" the map and scroll down. There's an image at the bottom that you can copy the location to and post that. You can also shrink your map link by hiding it the first url bracket.

My favorite is the San Francisquito, lake elizabeth, lake hughes road loop from Santa Clarita.  If I wasn't lazy, and at work, I would post the route  [beer].

Privateer - Are there usually a lot of  [leo] on the Palos Verdes ride you posted?

Palos Verdes Drive East - yes.  It's a residential area with lots of side roads and driveways.  Proceed with utmost caution.

The rest of it, no more so than normal.

Lol, that's an awesome ride! How'd you make a line that doesn't follow a road?

Privateer:  I used to live in Upland and Chino and I miss being close to those roads!   I had my first close call while riding my RD400 up the 38 on my way to Big Bear.

I once organized a run for the local Miata club that took us up the back way to Arrowhead via 138, then Big Bear, down to Yucaipa/Oak Glen, Banning, 243, 74, into Palm Desert.  Might do that again now that I have a more comfortable bike with longer legs (I'm old).

I still live in Upland.  ;D Baldy is nice and snowy right now. Was thinking of scooting up there to get some pics.

My folks are still there...just off 21st, a block west of San Antonio.  The run up Baldy, or up and across Glendora Ridge was a nearly weekly routine on my bikes and dad's Fiat Spider.
