Real wheel steering at 50+ mph would be crazy.

I'd love to see the looks on people's faces as someone rode up to a Starbucks on that!!
Dream on folks...you'll get to wonderland someday !

I can see it now: "How did your dad die?"
"...on a giant big wheel."

[laugh] [clap] totally made me laugh :)
I never respected my Big Wheel after the Green Machine came out. I can still remember the commercials. IIRC the commercial was filled with a lot of crazy power slides.

On the tombstone no doubt. [laugh]
Travman - is this the one you remember:
1978 Green Machine Commercial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygcConBiLV8#normal)
35 years ago. I can see it like yesterday. Pedaling as fast as I could then pulling one and pushing the other and skidding out of control. Good times.
That's it. [clap] That second slide is awesome. Look at how his leg flies off the petals. I was 8 in 1978, so I guess I was the intended customer. Never had one though. I retired my Big Wheel after I wore out the wheels and went straight to bikes. :-\ I missed out on the Green Machine.
Big Wheel by Marx Commercial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjTAA_da97w#normal)
I had a big wheel too. Was really sad when the front wheel wore out and split in half.
What's the point of the cat in that commercial?? "I can haz big wheel??" LOL
I was 29 in '78, so I was long gone from any Big Wheel stuff.
Wish there was such a thing when I was a kid..
I had a bike when I was 6 , I believe it was a 19 " and then when I was 8, I got a 26" Schwinn 3 speed .
Had lots of fun for several years on that bike.
Dolph :)

A drag race with crazy spin-outs at the end.

For those that have regression issues (or when the bike's in the shop), San Francisco has a big wheel race down Portrero Hill.

Ahhhh....BB gun fights with the prerequisite swear/lie that you'd only pump the gun once. [evil]
LOVED my Green Machine as a kid....absolutely LOVED it. I wish I still had it LOL. I wonder how many Green Machines were responsible for creating motorcyclists as the kids got a little older...
... I get to watch my son tear up the neighborhood sidewalks on his green machine.... It makes me happy
... Then I get jealous 'cuz i cant fit on the damn thing ;D

Yeah, I had one of these...

Thankfully I had a Levi's lined denim jacket that helped take some of the sting out of it. :-\
[bacon]
I got many beat downs from Mom after using the slingshot. She's take it away and I'd go steal it back repeatedly.
