I'm going to be moving to Denver CO this summer from Birmingham AL. I'm trying to anticipate what kind of carb issues I'm going to have once my altitude changes from 600 to 5000 feet above sea level. Of course then their is the ride in the mountains that will tack on another 3K. Does anyone have FCRs in CO and what kind of changes should I expect to make. Could I make the changes here before I move out west?
Thanks in advance
Assuming your carbs are dialed in correctly you will be running a little rich, but. IMO not worth doing anythin unless you are making a permanent move.
The move will be permanent

Ummn, not planning on ever going on a real ride up some of the better roads?
The fun roads are all between 9k and 13k feet here. With few exceptions of course.
When you get here, buy several sizes smaller main jets, and possibly 1 size smaller pilot jet, and then experiment for what works best for you on your favorite roads overall.

13K even better. I didnt know what those roads are like and i didn't want to talk too big. I'm excited to ride those mountain roads thats for sure.
We may not have any roads that are as beautifully tree lined as the roads you have back home, but we have some roads that will make your hair stand on end, and put a smile on your face that won't go away for quite a long time.
If you want, I can give you a list of great roads to write down, and put on your agenda for when you arrive.

Bladecutter is right, the best stuff is all up higher. I'd shoot for jetting that's rich enough that it'll run ok at 5.5k in the city, be darn near ideal around 8.5-9kk and still run at 13k. I've had the pleasure of riding darn near every road in the front range, better riding can't be had in the US I think [drool] Colorado is one state where FI has a bit of an extra advantage, but you can make carbs do ok. I haven't had carb'd monster there, but do have another carb'd bike that lives in Denver for when I visit/vacation there [thumbsup]
Man a list of roads would be great. I've only been to Colorado once in the summer. Hopefully I'll get in on a group ride sometime too once I get there.
From Denver head west/uphill, ride around, a lot. Hardly a bad road up that way. Boulder canyon is fun, the road that goes to the base of mt. evans (I don't remember the name) is fun, rt. 7 is fun, and there are probably a hundred more great roads. If its not summer you can work your way to Co Springs via evergreen and stay at fairly low atltitude and out of the snow and cold and still have decent twisties.
The run to blackhawk and whatever that other casino town is called is fun, but more cops than most routes.
For shear scenery its hard to beat trail ridge road and mt. evans.
